Agree. I thought it was superb.

The BBC was awarded way less coverage than in 2012. So unfortunately they have to fill. I’m going to miss it. I love nearly all sport. A few don’t float my boat.

Our gold medal tally is falling. Cycling and rowing aren’t what they were. We have been bridesmaids a bit too often, but overall Paris has done well. Marseille no good for sailing. Seine crap for swimming. LA will be hot!!!

He basically slagged off the IOC and said the controversy in the boxing was a mess of their own making - and added that you can't have fairness and inclusion. The IOC president is standing down and Pinsent said that whoever is next will have to sort it out.

Pinsent is already getting criticised on X so it's hopefully had an impact!

Moving on. I wasn't keen on the opening ceremony apart from the never ending horse, but I'm hoping for better things for the closing ceremony.

I’ve loved this Olympics too. I always do but this year I’ve been off work so have seen much more than usual.
I’m a bit sad that the BBC didn’t have as much coverage as before- although I’ve watched on other channels, I prefer the BBC commentary in general.
But overall it’s been fantastic. I quite enjoyed the opening ceremony.
Roll on the Paralympics.

Parking myself here. Opening ceremony and controversies aside this has been up there as one of the best games for me. I agree with the beeb, London, Sydney and Paris are the top 3.

I love Matthew Pinsent he always comes across as such a nice person. I think if ever a controversy came out about him I would be genuinely gutted.

@StarryDance totally agree! I feel like the stadium aspect of it will make it feel more natural! Have to say the fact that it was on the Seine for the OC made it feel patchy and stagnant and just a bit strange. The Closing ceremony generally isn’t as much of a ‘story telling’ focus like it was for the opening, London 2012 was just a 3 hour concert featuring great British singers IIRC. I was crying for most of it though! We had a game’s makers after party till 6am and I had to get a train back up north so I can’t really remember.
