Wow, despite the rubbish opening ceremony, which I agree, was dreadful, the Paris Olympics have been fantastic and really enjoyable! But then, maybe I’m easily pleased! 🙄

I’m not sure if the inclusion of Gaga was a nod to the next Olympics being in LA, or, the fact she is a fashion icon, and Paris is (one of the) fashion capital of the world. Rafa I suspect because he is the GOAT of the French Open at Roland Garros? But I could be wrong, now I do question the involvement of Nadia Comenici (sp?) and Serena Williams though! Serena was never a legend at Roland Garros over her career tbf?

Just saw on the news Bryony is also a flag bearer. Didn’t see that earlier when the BBC announced Alex Yee.

It’s such a shame that this time next week most of the team accomplishments will be forgotten until SPOTY at Christmas time and it will be back to boring old football.

I've loved the Olympics this year. I've been off work and have enjoyed dipping in and out watching it and becoming an expert on all sports. I'm going to miss watching it.

No major organisational cock ups (and let’s face it, it’s an organisational and logistical challenge of epic proportions to accommodate all the different rules and quirks of so many different sports)
Stunning performances
No major complaints from athletes
Beautiful city
Accessible to Parisian public

Why so negative?

The work that has gone in to it has been phenomenal.

It’s an amazing achievement!

And it’s not just me saying so; all the sports reviews in serious newspapers are saying the same.

I've loved every minute of this Olympics. We've had it on in the office too. Didn't enjoy the OC too much but hoping to stay awake for the CC.

It's a long wait until LA now.

Is there any bands playing or is that not done in Paris

DP is French and after the Tour and the Olympics is settling in tomorrow morning to watch the Femmes Tour followed next week by the Paralympics.
I'm done here with sport having also watched some of the Euros and then Wimbledon.
It's just too much!

'Toby winning the climbing medal' I think that was my highlight, that and Alex Yee winning the Triathlon.

I have loved it and enjoyed seeing sports about which I knew nothing like the canoe race thing and climbing. So glad that Briony got gold - she is so lovely and went round the trampoline comps with her silver and encouraged lots of young bouncers. The 3day event team too getting gold was great. I found the cycling a bit dull. The artistic swimming consumes made be wince - they were a bit cheese gratery. I think the organisation seemed slick and also speedy and Paris did well. The opening ceremony was rather odd in parts and too long winded. The pundits waffle on far too much. Though I love the diving guy.

I was on holiday, in France 😂 have watched some of the coverage through the past few weeks and really enjoyed it but the ceremonies… don’t really get what’s interesting about them tbh.

The opening ceremony was awful imo but I've mostly enjoyed the actual Olympics! The boxing was obviously a serious low point but most sports were a good watch.

I'm hoping for more from the closing ceremony than the opening simply by virtue of it being in a stadium and therefore there will be a decent atmosphere!
