I feel like I haven't had a series in a while which has really gripped me and made me eager to watch more.

Any suggestions? I have Netflix, Amazon prime, Disney + along with usual BBC/ITV etc

Usually watch dramas/crime thrillers etc. but open to most genres. Thanks!

Molly's Game on iPlayer.
Only Murders on Disney

And for anyone who likes time travel, Pera Palace on Netflix. S2 is starting in a few days after a wait of 3 years or so

Older but well worth a watch is Sneaky Pete on Amazon about a conman trying to go straight (ish!)
We are loving The Tourist on iplayer
Other good shows we've watched recently;
Bodies
3 body problem
Shogun
Shardlake

And the good old classic Sharpe is on UKTV play 😁

Loved Sneaky Pete. Apparently it was abruptly cancelled by Prime even though it was rating well. My conspiracy theory radar pinged.

Ed to add: I loved The Marvellous Mrs Maisel on Prime. Unmissable just for the fabulous clothes. (It was very good in itself)

A second vote for narcos on Netflix. Really gripping story lines, and manages to not glamorize drugs or cartels. The people involved make the mafia seem tame.

The guy is a scientologist isn't he? I dunno, I thought it was cancelled in covid pandemic. We came to it late but loved it.

There's a woman on Twitter who loves Matt Smith because of the GOT things so is watching his Doctor Who seasons and live tweeting it. She's become so besotted with the show she's now spreading out to earlier episodes.. It's a joy to witness.

Just found Taboo on Netflix - really atmospheric and engrossing.

High Country was amazing. Best thing I've watched in ages. On ITV or BBC. Can't remember which.

Funny Woman with Gemma Arterton (and a host of other great Brit actors).

Think it's on ITVx (series 1 complete, series 2 up to episode 5 with the last one dropping this week I think).

Another recommendation for Slow Horses on Apple. London, spies, great characters.

GroutyShouty · 17/09/2024 10:41

It's quite old but "Stella" on Amazon (not free mind you) is great. I watched it years back and just got back into it. It gets bad in series four IIRC but the first two or three series are brilliant.

FunnysInLaJardin · 17/09/2024 10:44

Colin From Accounts is great
