Starting a new SCD thread for chat prior to the series as the last is about to fill.

These threads are usually helmed by @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams and I normally deputise, but I haven't seen her around in a while

This thread will discuss who has been chosen for the show, but not who has been paired with who as that's a spoiler for the first show.

If you can do a free trial of Apple, Ted Lasso, (which is her breakout role as Rebecca) is well worth the watch. She's an experienced West End performer

Hannah was in Sex Education I think - the mother of the young swimmer. She played a character who’d wanted to be a pro swimmer but hadn’t been good enough.

i've never seen her in anything but i know she's world famous and massively in demand etc etc and surely strictly is nothing that she /has/ to do

Hannah W is bordering on National Treasure™️ status! Would be fab, but I can’t see it being on her radar given her profile. Unless it’s something her daughter wants her to do!

Politician wise what about Baroness Warsi, she’s got a good sense of humour (her podcast with David Baddiel is very good). I’m sure Matt Hancock will have volunteered himself too - going for the full set having already done ITV (ISCGMOOH) and Channel 4 (Celeb SAS) 😜

Comedian- it’s only a matter of time before Josh Widdecombe breaks! He and Rob Beckett keep talking about it on Parenting Hell: Rob’s daughters love the show but he’s adamant he won’t do it. Josh has been more wishy-washy but I bet if his daughter was a few years older (she’s about 6 now) and asked him he would do it.

I can’t see Hannah Waddingham doing it - she’s at the absolute peak of her career. She’s an utter queen.

i can see her being the star of an M&S or John Lewis Xmas campaign….

She did the M&S one last year!

I thought the idea of HW & M&S seemed familiar.

plus she had her own show on Apple TV with an Xmas special which was fab. I really can’t see why she would want to do strictly now considering she hosted the Olivier awards, she’s up for an Emmy… there’s literally no way her career would be boosted by doing it.

She was also in the Baileys Christmas advert

I'd love to see Hannah do it and be paired with Kai, I think they'd be a dream together!

It's upsetting that there are people out there that unhinged, I'm a big Strictly fan and I can't imagine ever caring that much that I would be compelled to frighten someone with serious threats.

Is there any information about total celeb numbers or dates yet?

For me it’s the whole school/autumn/cosy/Christmas thing. It means settling down, hot chocolates, lasagnas, it’s routines and all of that.

I don’t even have children at school though! I remember one of those money tv guys (Alvin Hall?) saying he had to watch his spending every autumn because it was ingrained in him to see September as a time for new shoes, shirts, trousers, coat, bags etc.

I'd like Tom be partnered with Karen. She's very into her fitness but never gets a sporty partner.
