Starting a new SCD thread for chat prior to the series as the last is about to fill.

These threads are usually helmed by @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams and I normally deputise, but I haven't seen her around in a while

This thread will discuss who has been chosen for the show, but not who has been paired with who as that's a spoiler for the first show.

Oh I loved Katya V - her and Flavia were the original SCD girl crushes! I remember the moment I realised where I recognised her from - as the bratty Morgan in Take the Lead where she danced a very hot Tango with Antonio Banderas. However looking back on the fact she was supposed to be late teens and him a bloke in his 40s it’s actually a bit creepy 😖

The media need to stop trying to squeeze every story out of the past pros and contestants.
It feels like they won't stop until someone breaks or the show is pulled.
It's being covered on so many TV shows, phone-ins on radio, the tabloids are looking for literally anything.

The DM are reporting Pasha's interview with the headline "Strictly pro Pasha Kovalev wades in on misconduct scandal and says a lot of people don't believe the accusations".
But what he said is quoted in the article- "I am sure a lot of people don’t believe it. So, some [contestants] are coming forward and not being heard. We need to make an atmosphere to make sure everyone is heard. Everyone should feel comfortable and have the best time of their lives because a lot of people do."So what he said is almost the opposite of what the headline implied 🤬Given that it'll be popping up on FB feeds etc, people will just see the headlines and jump to the wrong conclusion.And today there are so many comments on social media saying things like "oh another one jumping on the bandwagon," when the reality is they've probably been asked for a quote or a quote from years ago has been used. The celebs are having a horrible time online. I cannot get over how vicious some people are being

That headline's from his appearance on Loose Women. He barely said anything about the whole thing. They'll have been asking all ex pros and contestants for their take. Current pros and Shirley will have been told to rein it in.
A week on Monday, it will all be about the signings so there's that.
Nick Knowles wants to lose weight. I quite like him, I think he'll be good, if the rumours are true. He's 61. I hadn't realised. And 6ft 2. His fiancee is gorgeous. She's 33. He looks younger though and they look happy. I'd like someone useful who could put the shelves up. I'd forgotten he sings.

I agree the Dm need to calm down Pasha said nothing of the sort

Nick Knowles "singing" is a bit of a stretch 😀I'm worried he will be a bit Alan Patridge and take himself far to serious .

Dh knows someone who did a big build programme with him and says he's nice enough and likes to be one of the lads.

Where has Nick Knowles been rumoured Fail. ? The only person I've seen rumoured is Chris McCausland.

Nick was mentioned on GMB this morning. I hadn't heard that chris mcausland was rumoured.
There is a really nice Scottish guy forgotten his name who did ITT last year who is visually impaired he's a broadcaster and he's done celeb masterchef, anyway I think he was hankering after it he said he was a big fan and used the audio description to "watch" strictly every week.

His name is Amar Latiff should have googled before I rambled on 😀

I really like him and was hoping he'd be on the show. He seems absolutely lovely so if he is ever signed he needs to be partnered with the loveliest, kindest pro.

The Sun are usually correct with a lot of their casting rumours. They clearly have someone feeding them information or some kind of agreement with the Strictly producers to drip, drip information and build up excitement. Nick Knowles is just someone I have always had an instinctive antipathy towards (see also Piers Morgan, Simon Cowell, Anne Robinson, and several others).

I did like Katya V as a pro, although (the comic delights of her and Gavin Henson aside) she never got a shot with a ringer. So that's her and Fern who didn't like Artem. Tbh, the only one of these revelations that has surprised me was Graziano. All the other 'tainted' pros are the ones I would have guessed.

Pete Wicks is also rumoured. He's an acquired taste (I saw him on Josh Must Win) but I found him amusing.
Knowles has been in all the tabloids and OK - not sure who broke the story first but the weight loss motive was in Sidebar of Shame. He's 6ft 2 with a 50 inch chest, he wasn't ever going to be a skinny Minnie.
Oh and Tattle have alluded to Erection Man as being the one I said it couldn't be because he bats for the other side.

Pete wicks is interesting considering he is best friends with Sam Thompson - Zara’s boyfriend so would know first hand exactly what happened last year.

I really like Pete wicks I've never watched Towie so I don't really know him from that, but he's really funny, he did that full monty programme and he was just a good guy, he's friends with Sam Thompson isn't he I've seen them on stuff together.

Yeah I don’t know him well - he pops up on insta videos and seems to come across as a nice, good natured guy.

Nick Knowles would be great - he'd take it seriously but has some good one-liners, plus some proper cheese-fest stuff.

I know someone too who did a DIY SOS with him and said he was so lovely to everyone and personally thanked everyone who came to help 🥰

Pete Wicks would be great. He's really funny and would definitely cop off with one of the pros or a fellow contestant 😆

Whether Gio crossed the line isn’t really the issue.
Amanda, and others, are badly damaged by the way the programme works so things should be managed better.

If she was complaining -even if he was doing nothing wrong- something should have been changed.

It has to be collaborative between the couple, one can’t drive the other past endurance.

I don't think Strictly needs to be a positive experience the whole time. What's wrong with somewhere in between. Neither great fun nor negative.
I can imagine some of it is boring and waiting around for hours.
The training for hours per day and avoiding taking breaks is up to the celeb and their egos. Not fair to blame everyone else for that.

Just seen ( in Mirror online so very possibly not accurate) that a spokesperson for Gio is saying that he hasn’t blocked the 50 hours of footage, which belong to the BBC, and has chosen not to view them himself ‘to preserve the integrity of the review’. Not entirely sure how viewing them himself would go against that?

Didn’t Amanda admit in the interview with krishnan that it hadn’t been gio who had blocked them, but the BBC?

I think she did but also said something like 'what has he got to hide?' which kind of implies that he is involved in the blocking.

Yeah that's very odd. Doesn't make any sense

Christine lampard said this in her interview I've not seen the KGM Interview yet. It must be for legal clarification or something, but I don't see why Giovani would be avoiding seeing it.
