Starting a new SCD thread for chat prior to the series as the last is about to fill.

These threads are usually helmed by @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams and I normally deputise, but I haven't seen her around in a while

This thread will discuss who has been chosen for the show, but not who has been paired with who as that's a spoiler for the first show.

I agree with previous poster Alijaz should’nt be returning it’s all nonsense

What exactly is "nonsense"? Women working who shouldn't have to fear being kicked, punched or spat at? Or that men shouldn't be accountable for their actions? Or that the strictly pro lineup needed completing?

Why shouldn't he? He's popular so that works in the BBC and fans' favour, and he may wish to earn an income again. Win, win situation.

I don't blame him rewriting history a bit but it'd be like AJ "Hey Trish" pretending his exit from Strictly for better things worked out...although in his case, Covid didn't help.

I don't mind Aljaz being back but decent waltzes aside, he hasn't choreoed anything in the last two series he was in that I've had on replay (the pros don't choreo the Charlestons).
That said, whatever he choreoed was thousand times better than the S+M leather bondage freestyle him and Sara were subjected to.

I thought it was a very well structured class, and I appreciated her having another dancer demonstrating the simpler version all the way though.

The BBC have form for keeping shows on well past their sell by date. I think they should end Strictly or change the format to the kind of show where there is a winner each week, and then a final (maybe semi-finals) of all the weekly winners.

Three weeks of preparation/rehearsal for each contestant, not about ten.

Strictly still does very well in the ratings so I don't see why they would drop it.

It's a major fixture of the autumn scheduling, it would take a lot more than this to take it off completely.
All the pros have stayed very quiet on their social accounts, the producers must be watching them like hawks.

Kai's keeping a very low profile.

It might actually pick up viewers who’ve gone off it over the last few years because they’ll want to see what’s going on. Nadiya and Kai’s vibe, for example. Evidence that anyone is behaving differently.

I also think that fans old will be genuinely keen to see Alijaz , and of course a healthy Amy.

I keep posting this on every Strictly thread but praying that they will bring Pasha back too. Or maybe he's enjoying family life and pleased he got out when he did. I just love his dancing!

Pasha is touring (or about to tour) with Brendan, Vincent and James, so very much still dancing! Probably relieved to be well clear of Strictly now though 😅

Oh I am happy to hear he is still performing! Yes he's probably relieved to be shot of Strictly, particularly now. He always struck me as being a bit too much of a gentleman for all of the nonsense aspects of the programme.

Pasha is one of my all time favourites. He’s pretty uptight tho.

What does “uptight” mean in this context please?

If you mean he is professional and not given to emoting all over the screen, that’s a good thing isn’t it? Strictly would have done well to stick with professionals like that.

I agree about his style of dancing anyway; almost balletic.
