Placemark

New episode just mentioned for this coming Sunday

MorrisZapp · 23/06/2025 22:23

Murder 24/7 is of a similar standard and running on BBC2 currently. Tonight's was the first part about a man stabbing his partner and his mother in law, then claiming it was self defence. Utterly vile man, such a high quality programme though.

I am completely confused y tonight’s program. The picture they painted of Anne was of a smart sophisticated woman. And the house looked clean and gift. But the cleaner said it wasn’t and she needed personal care etc. But none of the friends mentioned her health deteriorating. Or any of that.

@Toddlerteaplease There do seem to be a lot of contradictions about Anne's life. That the investigation is spread out over two episodes makes me think that it's not going to be as straightforward as it seemed during the first episode when Scott confessed to the murder.

DancingTurtle · 30/06/2025 17:44

Maybe it will become clearer in the next episode, but I thought the editing/story telling was off. It doesn't make sense that she'd been reported missing for weeks but no mention of findings from a missing person investigation. Scott was obviously the main suspect from the off, but the programme didn't portray this. There were other things that I thought didn't seem like an authentic murder investigation.

DancingTurtle · 30/06/2025 17:48

I think with Annette we got a lot of background on her younger, healthier, active years before her stroke.

BerriesCones · 30/06/2025 18:00

I've not watched episode 2 yet, but I do have some sympathy with carers of babies/severely disabled people/the elderly who are driven to the end of their tether through sleep deprivation and the demands on them and see no way out. I assume he thought he'd be homeless if he upped and left. I'm not saying what he did was OK. Just that I feel sympathy for people in those circumstances.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2025 18:47

Some bits of this episode seemed a bit out of character, the way they referred to the red shoes they found. Wonder if it was a different editor.

It did seem quite disjointed compared to the usual 24HIPC shows.

I did wonder from the start if he’d killed her, I’m not sure I believe his “under pressure” story. I think when she talked about having to sell the house he saw his cushy rent free pad, and all the extra stuff that came his way (food, takeaways, nights out) slipping away from him.

Victoriawould24 · 30/06/2025 20:55

I’m with you @Sidgehe could have left at any point.
I can’t believe nobody was suspicious of this man living off her.
its sad that everyone says how wonderful she was but maybe she didn’t matter to anyone enough to ask questions.
It also didn’t make sense the hairdresser saying how lovely Scott was and doing everything for Annette then in tonight’s trailer she’s saying how he had two sides.
I hated what they did with the last few episodes and it’s like they are trying to manipulate it more and show different ‘characters’ and surprises.

burnoutbabe · 30/06/2025 21:01

Yes didn’t the last one about staking pretty much make you think the lady had been killed until she appears at the end?
how did they have recordings of phone calls between the 2?
and why did no one else see she was in need. Was he a paid carer? It didn’t seem like it.

Victoriawould24 · 30/06/2025 21:05

And how did that Luke neighbour have a voice message from her in December

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2025 21:07

Its the way the neighbour is sitting on the sofa while being interviewed is a bit odd!

I thought the neighbour on the couch was weird too, lolling about

This is what I don’t understand. She sems to have been a well known person in the community and well liked. She has a cleaner going in and was close to her neighbours. That’s why I’m puzzled by the whole thing.

bohemianblasphemy · 30/06/2025 21:28

It seems she was close to her stepson too, it's odd that nobody really noticed that he was neglecting her. I think they just all seem so taken in by him.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2025 21:40

Omg. That is beyond terrible.

Me too. I am really struggling to get my head around it. The dismemberment and then getting rid of body parts as part of popping to Lidl as part of his “daily routine”. Horrific.

If anyone saw the Sixth Commandment about Ben Field he was a weird mix of carer come partner

Victoriawould24 · 30/06/2025 22:16

I think some people will agree to go on tv and say anything as in they were approached by producers and corralled into saying nice things as if they really knew her.
Stepsons videos all looked very old and I think the sad truth is maybe everyone was glad they didn’t have to care for her or intervene so it’s easier to just believe she was all sorted and good.
For us it seems so dodgy this super lovely guy moving in with the lonely elderly divorcee but in reality people even if a bit suspicious aren’t bothered enough to question.
I think also lots of people are very forgiving of a friendly gay man almost like they are zero threat and people want a piece of it like saying oh he’s my gay bestie and he’s a scream.

I still like the show but I don’t really like the way it’s being edited and presented to us anymore- and yes like that stalker one playing footage of the victims mum as if it was a murder.

Lalgarh · 30/06/2025 22:19

Watching on catch-up. Yes the neighbour (blurred out)saying she had been nicknamed 'the queen of Fairfield "

And one of those cash for gold sites uh huh
