Yes it was good Raahh - there wasn’t much else to do then was there? Grin

I remember when TAW (when Des Lynam used to do it. so over 30 years ago, pre Sue) was always on at 9.30, and matches very rarely ran over , and of course there was no roof, so they couldn't.

So, TAW had a purpose.

Doesn't really now. And it makes even less sense, when they use it to show most of one match. (usually a Brit). I get that not everyone sits watching all day like me but there are other matches going on funnily enough (unless it rains).

Raahh · 05/07/2024 21:18

Fizzy it was such a surreal time, wasn't it- every so often I will think of something from 2020, and be amazed it happened.

Well done Jannik.

An earlier night tonight.

i feel a bit tennis-ed out Grin

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2024 21:18

Yes I remember the Des and Jerry days Grin

I loved the Des and Jerry days. I called my last goldfish Des Lynam. In a studio, proper highlights.

None of this sitting outside nonsense.

Fizzywinegum · 05/07/2024 21:20

It was very surreal - I’m also feeling quite tennised out - I’ll be complaining at the end of next week when there won’t be enough tennis on!

Fizzy I have already been looking ahead to what tournament Sky will be messing up next and muttering darkly that they will probably not show half the decent matches .

Woo- big balls.

Raahh · 05/07/2024 21:26

Who the heck is it giving the order of play on this channel? She is even worse than Isa at pronouncing any of the names. Absolutely dire.

JaneJeffer · 05/07/2024 21:47

I'm missed everything because of the football which is still going on.

I'm so confused I don't even know what day it is!

kazzaD66 · 05/07/2024 22:25

I was quite thankful for TAW this evening, as I've been out all day, so unable to see any tennis or score watching (bit rude at a funeral and wake!).
It is generally fairly crap though and not a patch on the Des and Gerry Show. It's not even live because half of the links are in broad daylight, with no umbrellas in sight, which makes 'Shot of the Day' a bit dubious when there's probably 3 or 4 hours of play left after the decision has been made Hmm

Raahh · 06/07/2024 11:03

Naomi looking lovely this morning. I think Naomi and Lian should take over from Liam. At least they understand tennis - and they are funny.

Raahh · 06/07/2024 11:06

And there is rain- no surprise. I get there are ticket issues (and they have other things planned for Centre on the middle Saturday usually, they often invite lots of people in to watch) but they could start early on Court 1.

Raahh · 06/07/2024 11:08

And Isa is the only one who insists on constantly saying Sir Andy Murray. No-one ever calls him that. Stop it.

Raahh · 06/07/2024 11:19

The weather is not looking good there. They are being quite optimistic.

And(I know this will not go down wellGrin) with all the backed up singles matches- should they really be prioritising the mixed doubles match on Centre Court- just because it's Murray- or should they be concentrating on getting matches finished under the roof?

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 06/07/2024 12:25

Can the BBC stop blowing smoke up Emma Raducanu's backside. It's nauseating, they're making her out to be in the same league as Andy, Martina Navratalova, et al.

It's unfair on the other Brits that are still in, that the BBC seem to worship Emma and ignore other players.

crumblingschools · 06/07/2024 12:30

It probably isn’t great for Emma either, adding on pressure

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2024 12:56

They didn't learn from all the pressure they put her under before until she ended up having a panic attack!

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2024 12:57

Lucas Pouille has withdrawn

Raahh · 06/07/2024 13:15

Poor Pouille- that gives De Minaur a bye to the next round.

Jane The pressure last time re-Emma was daft, and definitely didn't help her nerves. She waited all day for that match. Delaying her match until they could play it late on Centre (just for the sake of audiences) was not the best move. But it seems that the schedules are not there for the players, but for the TV audiences and to keep the big ticket holders happy.

Raahh · 06/07/2024 13:24

Meanwhile, out on court 14, Barbora Krejcikova is about to bagel her opponent in the first set of her match.

Raahh · 06/07/2024 13:29

Torvill and Dean watching on Centre Court.

Raahh · 06/07/2024 13:32

Oof- rain again.

Heck.

Raahh · 06/07/2024 13:38

Interestingly, Roger is watching Ben on Court 1- but it's because they share a management team (and Ben wears the kit he endorses) . Otherwise, you'd expect to see Roger on Centre with all the other 'sporting stars'.

IceandIndigo · 06/07/2024 13:46

Ben vs Denis is pretty entertaining.

IceandIndigo · 06/07/2024 13:47

Ben really looks like his mum.
