butterpuffed · 05/07/2024 21:08

Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun . It reads like it might be a different mystery each week .

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/07/2024 23:03

Yes sounds like a weekly mystery adventure murder

Is it in English?

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/07/2024 09:49

I hope it isn't. I'm a "sub-titles anyway" person like Blondes, but shows where foreigners speak English, or (worse) are dubbed, are just awful AFAIC. Looking forward to this, seen some really fun Turkish series on Netflix.

well, if anyone does know, please say, nothing worse than spending time setting up a series to try out and then finding it is in a language I don't know. I can't read subtitles

It's in English (with Turkish subtitles available). There are some small snippets of conversation, background noise, music, etc. in Turkish but most of those aren't even subtitled - more background ambience and scene-setting than anything you'd need to follow the story.

duc748 · 06/07/2024 13:57

Judging by the trailers available, it looks like it's in English, or dubbed. Which rather puts me off.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/07/2024 20:26

It will be a murder mystery but in Istanbul

It’s kinda a comedy tho not sure meant to be

OP posts:
starrypineapplerings · 07/07/2024 21:32

reality is that no detective would still be working at that age. they would be long retired off whether they wanted it or not.
but yes a striking resemblance in mannerisms and looks.

it's an 8 parter so likely a slow burn.

starrypineapplerings · 07/07/2024 21:34

i think the 'pregnant' wife has some awful ovarian cancer or similar. has to be something more dramatic than fibroids for the story curve

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/07/2024 22:31

Whole family seem weird

Dad thrashes daughter with belt

Brother let's sister get beaten for his greedy ness and doing /selling drugs and happy for his sister to be filmed by his friend

Daughter who is murdered is a whore

Mum seems quiet so agree some other story as not preg

U less she was preg and somehow mc /abortion but hadn't lost baby weight.

Fiancé didn't see gutted she was dead

Or I may be totally wrong

It's a bit by numbers, isn't it? But set in beautiful Turkey, which is a bonus! But every Europudding cliche was present and correct; the foot-chase through the market, the body in the swimming pool, I was even watching something the other week with the "cop implausibly gets transfer to another country, purely to find out what really happened to their beloved". Likeable lead, though, I'll keep watching. Oh, and some plot devices to excuse so much of it being in English.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/07/2024 23:33

Oh yes. Who was the body at the end

purpleme12 · 07/07/2024 23:42

I found it entertaining. But it really annoys me being in English. There is no way the police conduct interviews etc in English. And the detective from the UK speaks Turkish anyway.
I thought the wife was pregnant and just being sarcastic. Anyway the golden rule is never ask about a pregnancy unless 100% sure.
Great shots of Istanbul though
