Yes he wasn't very nice to him

E5 tonight

Well that was a bit ridiculous. 'Omer' was obviously a woman, and the idea that Ayse wouldn't instantly realise that, well... 🙄

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/07/2024 04:26

Well yes I thoight that when was running away was a girl run. Plus girl figure and voice

Glad the female knows about the girlfriend now and will trust him
More

As much as I love the lead character it does seem weird he is having a baby at his age

And really, he's a lousy Dad and husband, despite his wife being beatifically calm in pregnancy like no pregnant woman ever!

duc748 · 22/07/2024 12:24

And I'm still finding the English-speaking annoying. They seem to dropped even the paper-thin excuse that seemed to apply early on: that conversations were being held in English as a courtesy to the 'English' Mehmet who didn't speak (much) Turkish. But now random conversations between Turks are often also in English.

I thought it was a woman.
I only thought I must have got it wrong when they started talking about 'him'
But then I realised I was right!

Portakalkedi · 23/07/2024 10:42

I'm enjoying it, and I think they have kept a lot of English in it to appeal to none-Turkish speakers as many can't be arsed with foreign stuff/ subtitles. It is a bit silly at times, as if the rubbish collectors, caretakers, servants etc all speak perfect English (they would not) or the police speak to their colleagues in English. I'm a Turkish speaker and watch a lot of Turkish language stuff on Netflix, but I must say it's nice to see it appear on a mainstream channel.

duc748 · 23/07/2024 13:09

Well it's putting this non-Turkish speaker off. So much so that I don't know if I CBA to compete it; I watched ep #5 and thought it was a bit dull.

Appalonia · 24/07/2024 18:13

I've just read a couple of Barbara Nadel's books in this series and really enjoyed them. V different from the TV series tho.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/07/2024 20:14

Books often are Diff to the programme

Which is annoying

If they think a book is good enough to adapt to tv

Then keep the plot

Just reading a review in the NS, and it says that it's a American/Canadian production. Which explains the English-language stuff. Cos every one knows, sub-titles are way too taxing for US audiences. 🙄

Bitezbabe · 25/07/2024 16:24

Went to Istanbul about 10 years ago and watching this has made me want to revisit. Think the main detective is rather dishy. 😂

DisneyHag · 27/07/2024 11:12

I’m finding it absorbing - but a bit ridiculous and rather 19th century. Particularly the birth, which was so neatly wrapped up out of sight of The Man. Never thought I’d see that on 21st century TV …

DisneyHag · 27/07/2024 20:38

Well, as sightseeing it was splendid!

Won’t say any more as no idea which episode was the last on TV.

The music was fab though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/07/2024 22:10

We have 2 left. 7&8

Anyone else totally mesmerised by Haluk Bilginer's VOICE 😍

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/07/2024 17:34

Bugger missed last nights due to work

Will watch later but here's brief recap

Can't find another

When Ayse and Suleyman are sent to investigate a house fire, all seems innocuous at first, but they soon turn up a clue that may break new ground in Suleyman's search for Kayra Khan. They are even more surprised when the person who blocks them investigating further is the new chief inspector, Ikmen.

All wrapped up nicely.
Like real life - not !!!

purpleme12 · 30/07/2024 08:51

Well I don't want it for real life 😂

Clawdy · 30/07/2024 09:56

I liked that ending, and that meal looked amazing!

deeahgwitch · 30/07/2024 10:12

I liked the ending too.

DisneyHag · 30/07/2024 10:52

The enormous spread of food that the at least 40 something post-partum woman probably prepared all by herself?

😂I was actually thinking that as I watched - Oh my that food looks delicious but it must take ages to prepare all the ingredients !

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/07/2024 19:11

Ok I need the ending explained

Got confused who was a baddie and not
