Jo Whiley - nail on head “perfect pop performance” which it was
For me I need heart thumping rock and roll

Yes she's a pop performer but take away the dancers, staging she's very dull. A lot of pop stars would struggle being a Glastonbury headliner.

I'm a massive Madonna fan and know many would love to see her do Glastonbury, yes a few years ago would have been amazing. But now I can't see her doing it without the staging, dancers etc.

Madonna has the star quality to just stand there and let her back catalogue do the talking but I don't think she'd do it now, this year would have been perfect for her.

Nial Rogers would be absolutely bloody awesome. I saw him last year and despite his age he was the best by the mile. Just cool and fun.

StripedPiggy · 29/06/2024 00:14

Dua Lipa was quite obviously miming at various times throughout her set. That’s be expected in a pop performer who is simultaneously doing complex choreography but it’s not what Glastonbury is supposed to be about.

Cleebope2 · 29/06/2024 00:16

Cant believe she didn’t perform the biggest hit of her career. Hate it when stars let the fans down by trying to be too cool for their own songs.

What is Glastonbury supposed to be about? It’s a festival of performing arts, I’d say a huge production with lights and fireworks and dancers and elaborate choreography is a performance, it’s not and never has been an indie or rock festival, it covers pretty much all genres :)

He’s played, I saw him, he was indeed awesome :)

She left out Dance the Night. OK, not her biggest hit but her biggest very recent hit and the crowd would have loved it

GooGooMuckMuck · 29/06/2024 00:42

PJ Harvey was phenomenal. She played a ‘secret’ gig in Abbotsbury on Thursday which was only advertised locally and I was lucky enough to see her. She was testing out her Glastonbury set. Just love her so much.

its2024 · 29/06/2024 00:48

Oh Madonna with Nile Roger's as special guest, given the Like A Virgin history but she would want to be seen as "with It" and drag out someone who she did them daft remixes with a few years back.

Plus a lot off youngest wouldn't know who Madonna and Nile Rodger's was!

I don't think she'll do Glastonbury, and she'd never do the legend act she'd want to be a headliner! Would love to see a crowd like that singing her biggest hits with her.

NameChangeForPoo · 29/06/2024 01:07

Why does everyone think The Sugarbabes were so amazing? They were bloody awful -so out of rhythm and tune. You can’t accuse Dua Lipa of being either of those things.

Willmafrockfit · 29/06/2024 05:31

i wanted to see Seventeen, missed it
loved Paul Heaton

Willmafrockfit · 29/06/2024 05:33

I thought Duo Lipa was disappointing but very popular

Willmafrockfit · 29/06/2024 05:36

and i enjoyed LCD sound system

I loved Aurora's interview, I feel awkward on stage! so honest. absolutely not answering the questions as they expected.

Miming should be transparent, you should be told at time of booking a ticket that there will be some, and on tv there should be a note say similar to the warning about swearing.

I watched it and agree.

faffadoodledo · 29/06/2024 07:35

I think people liked the sugababes set because they banged out the hits. Ans really seemed to love being there. If I'm mistaken Dua Lipa missed one or two hits (save one in a video screen) which would have pleased everyone. I kind of think Glastonbury is about doing those big numbers because the acts won't be being seen just by diehard fans.

I mean you obv can't compare the two though. One performer is at her peak; the other three peaked in the nineties. But the latter just seemed delighted to be there. I didn't get that so much from DL

But I am old!

And when they asked her if PJ Harvey was an inspiration and she said "no" Grin. She was refreshingly honest. Loved it!

I was listening to dua lipa on the radio and the vocals were flawless. So many hits as well. Does she not have the rights to perform dance the night/barbie?

Their set would’ve been amazing fun live, just pure sunshine dance about nostalgia pop, the atmosphere in West Holts looked fantastic.

Sugababes set was about being in the moment in the field, Dua Lipa’s set was also about the fact it was being streamed worldwide as well as on TV/iPlayer.

Does anyone know what’s wrong with Jo Whiley? She sounds like she’s about to collapse

She was off sick week before last and last week her voice sounded really deep and not like her!
Whatever it was she's not recovered and shouldn't be working imo. She could ruin her voice which isn't great if that is your job!
I like Jo - I know she gets loads of stick.

I am struggling with Dua Lipa.
I feel I am at a well.polished dance show with the musicians shoved to the side lines.
I'm old skool.

Agree - although I love Eurovision it was all a bit Eurovisionery! And a bit boring in places.
Not a headliner!

I thought they sounded great - lovely harmonies and not too rehearsed with the moves which is much better for Glastonbury.
