I think they probably viewed Kasabian as being too much of a gamble as well due to the fairly recent frontman change.

It’s not that recent; Kasabian have been performing with Serge as frontman for at least 2 years and they have released an album without Tom and have done a massive tour. No gamble as far as I can see and you really can’t tell the difference when they are performing the classic Kasabian hits.

Thing that always strikes me at festivals is, you should never shape your festival round your fave listens at home. Live performance is a totally different kettle of fish from how it sounds on Spotify, or at least for me.

Am in no way a Dua Lipa fan and actually I think her music is crap but she did a fantastic set, she knows how to work a crowd.

Coldplay are popular because they know how to craft a melody and put on a great show. Their lyrics are rubbish and mawkish but I’m not looking for musical novelty and avant- garde at a festival.

The Banksy raft on Saturday evening (and previous) was really powerful. Terminal 1 was also so well done.

Little Simz was a highlight for me. So talented and a great show.

Gosh I thought the banksy thing was so cringe.

I thought James Cleverly completely misunderstood the Banksy piece, quite embarrassingly so in an interview I saw, it wasn’t celebrating or laughing at the migrant boats or people dying, and it was specifically done at Idles because it linked to their lyrics ‘My blood brother is an immigrant, a beautiful immigrant’.

I’m not sure what the link was at Little Simz, anyone know?

I watched PJ Harvey's set last night.

Gosh I thought the banksy thing was so cringe.

Why is that?

sugarbyebye · 02/07/2024 08:46

I thought Banksy was on the nose, as usual.

I agree.

Did anybody else watch the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets? I quite liked them though they reminded me of the band my boyfriend was part of in the late 70s. I also wanted to push the hair back off the face of the lead singer all the time.

I'm just watching some of the Trnsmt footage on iPlayer - I think Example would have been a good shout for a headliner instead of SZA.
