I agree with the OP that the Mary and Miranda story felt very much in the vein of SATC, quirky and funny, and Rosie O’Donnell nailed her character. I would love to see her do at least one more episode.

No, I listened to Every Outfit on this just the other day. A co-worker sets her up on a blind date with a woman at the company softball game, thinking she is gay, and Miranda is initially shocked but then gets invited to dinner at a senior partner’s house on the back of the assumption that she and the date are a couple. She is going to be a novelty lesbian basically for the partner’s wife to say she knows. So she plays along with it for the dinner but then confesses that she’s not really gay. On the way out of the dinner she gives her date a kiss to see whether there’s anything there, and it’s a peck basically, and then says ‘nope, definitely not gay’.

I think I assumed they'd stay in touch but no visits, at least not yet. Aidan wouldn't want to be too far away if anything else happened with Wyatt and Carrie visiting would risk upsetting any progress they're making with him. But I assumed phone calls, messages, dinners if he's in NY for work etc.
The first ep felt so much tighter than the first two series did. Things seemed to happen for a reason and the pacing was much better. And Miranda feels like she's being written by people who actually saw SATC now.
