Anyone wanna join in with the pre-screening goss and hype?

Me first… SJP has posted her run through nameplate on insta. But so has this actor - a rumoured love interest for Miranda? What do we think?

And Anthony had to apologise to Carrie 🤷‍♀️ Just as Miranda did after speaking the truth about the Russian and the move to Paris. Let the record state that Miranda was right.

IRL I couldn’t tolerate any of them as friends, especially the parent crowd. I used to aspire to the brunching, fun city life and I felt all of them represented a little bit of people I knew. I’ll stick with it as I did for last two seasons, despite Carrie’s situation looking like a Mumsnet AIBU/Relationships thread playing out…

CowTown · 16/06/2025 11:56

Anthony questioned it at the ballet and Miranda when they were building the cat tower.

Girl ain’t listenin’.

I think I'm holding out hope for one of those Carrie/ Miranda blow outs they occasionally have. Historically they've been good at voicing the opinions the other night be trying to ignore.
Poor Anthony isn't going to risk saying anything again!

greengreyblue · 16/06/2025 12:38

Yes you’re right, Miranda would call this out, as would Samantha and Charlotte would be seeing the romantic side. Come on Miranda!!!

Lottapianos · 16/06/2025 12:52

'the excuse to say she was never happy with him, to cheat and to find her true sexuality (which I will forever call bullshit on)'

I agree with you. Miranda had a very active fulfilling sex life with many men, including Steve, for many years. She then became interested in women - great, but surely she's bisexual rather than 'queer' 🙄

Samantha would have disabused Carrie of the notion that Aiden’s suggestion was in any way reasonable, IMMEDIATELY. Then she would have been supportive even when Carrie- inevitably- didn’t take her advice.

Umbilicat · 16/06/2025 13:35

Aidan was always loathable, now ....!!

Clearly he'll be furious his son's being put on these newfangled ADHD drugs and furious with both his ex and Carrie for conniving. I thought when the truck drove off with her luggage they'd be in there, but no ... no one seems to be that bothered she's lost her stuff (I loved her outfit and thought it was peak Carrie)

I smiled at Harry and Charlotte freaking out at staying out late, I can so relate to that switch that happens some time in your 30s when 3am suddenly seems horrific, not fun.

LTW plot. LITERALLY WHO CARES? You're a rich woman with a pretend job and your sidekick quite reasonably wants to go off and work with someone with a track record. But it would have been better plotting if LTW had kicked off more rather than just sulking for a night then going, 'Oh, OK then ...' Made it even more who cares. She's the character we can easily lose.

Miranda, I live in hope of better things coming ...

Lottapianos · 16/06/2025 13:39

'I loved her outfit and thought it was peak Carrie'

Me too. Elegant, chic, fitted dress with big slouchy cardigan and crazy heels. The whole thing was Vivienne Westwood apparently

I agree about LTW's rubbish storylines but I do enjoy her, mostly because Nicole Ari Parker is GORGEOUS and doing a fine job with shit material. Loved her mashing the fuck out of the potatoes and threatening to do the same to Herbert 😁 he's lovely too

Doubleraspberry · 16/06/2025 14:04

I do fundamentally like LTW as a character too. But her semi-detached storylines are odd.

The problem to an extent with them confronting Carrie is that everyone sat around with foolish grins when Miranda fell into her Che madness (with the exception of that feeble intervention about the move to LA interrupted by the trans rabbi in the loos), so the recent precedent is set for stupid decisions going unchallenged.

Holluschickie · 16/06/2025 14:06

True. Che was practically abusive.

But everybody was wokely prattling " They are so funny".

Stanford was always the one who could give it to her straight (no pun intended) without her getting defensive about it. I miss him.

PurplebeadedFendi · 16/06/2025 14:32

The trouble with the timing of Che was that she was Carrie's boss (and an abusive boss at that) and she was trying to fit into the world that podcast was exploring. And Charlotte was going through the Rose/Rock thing and trying to be understanding. So I don't think either of them had it in them to say to Miranda, WTAF are you doing? Whereas they all had plenty to say about Samantha's brief lesbian relationship.

@Lottapianos absolutely agree with you that the more realistic way to play out Cynthia Nixon's agenda Miranda's change in sexuality would be to make her bi having unexpectedly fallen for a woman (sorry Che, biology is real), and wanting to explore that side of her. And I did think that was what would happen, when Carrie and Steve had their heart to heart during the house painting and Carrie told Steve it was about Che, not about Miranda having lived a lie. However, the writers have very firmly moved into the "living a lie" territory when us viewers know damn well how much sex with men Miranda craved and had - as much as Samantha in the earlier series.

Talking of Che, I watched an AJLT hate watcher's podcast yesterday, and he said watching AJLT is like being stuck in an elevator with Che Diaz. You hate every minute of it but can't look away.

greengreyblue · 16/06/2025 14:52

I hadn’t realised the actress ( Sarita Choudhury) that plays Seema is British. Just rewatching and her accent slips on the plane to Virginia so I googled. Coincidence that she’s kind of replacing Samantha, played by British Kim Catrell

Oh, which podcast? I am very much distracting myself from being miserable at work right now by listening to bitchy AJLT podcasts.

Che being Carrie's boss did always feel like utter bullshit because why would ultra-rich famous Carrie have ever agreed to be on that awful podcast anyway? Why would she want/need to do what that lot were telling her? She could have had her own from the start. It made zero sense.

And Miranda falling for someone like Joy, or Nya (had she been the original version of her character) would have felt a lot more real than Che. Both those women are essentially people that she would more logically chime with than Steve, let alone Che. I think most viewers are not against the idea that Miranda could discover new sexual feelings at her age, just the idea that Che would have been the one to spark them (with a side order of 'no, Miranda wearing trousers in the 90s was NOT her being coded lesbian all along').

PurplebeadedFendi · 16/06/2025 15:04

I don't think Sarita Coundhury has lived in the UK since she was a young child, certainly not since she broke into Hollywood with Mississippi Masala (v early 90s). I remember those steamy scenes with Denzel Washington!

I think we can only speculate as to the condition of Cynthia Nixon's marriage at the time she left him and started a relationship with a woman but why does that mean that Miranda's marriage had to be in tatters and Miranda was always in fact a lesbian? The idea that Miranda who shagged her way happily and with gay abandon through manhattan's men is now women only just doesn't ring true. Of course she could be making a choice to only date women but why wouldn't that be talked about with her friends? Where is the introspection, analysis, reflection on their love lives and relationships that they used to give us in SATC? I know they are older now and long term marriage isn't as interesting as dating but Miranda could have a lot of good stuff to explore for her character but it all feels very one note.

Shes 58!! Looks good! She has an English mother , was born in London but grew up in Jamaica/ Italy and Canada. I think she probably has a milder US accent than she’s putting on and it occasionally slips.

greengreyblue · 16/06/2025 15:19

Another thing, when Aiden went to rescue Seema and Carrie, who was watching Wyatt? I thought he couldn’t be left.

Ah this is very true. Post, 'Carrie, I'm in a rom com!' no-one is going to give the blunt-but-with-love truth any more.

I miss Willie Garson too—so sad!

PurplebeadedFendi · 16/06/2025 15:59

@Doubleraspberry I've been really enjoying a youtuber called Aspyn.J_ , who has done a series of videos dissecting the relationships of Carrie/Big, Carrie/Aiden and Miranda/Steve, as well as other aspects of SATC and overviews of AJLT (but nothing yet for this series). She's very astute and funny.

Another Youtuber who I find very funny is called Watch With/Me EllieBee.

For a bitchy male take on it all: And Just Like Crap on Youtube.

There used to be others, but a lot of SATC fan commentators gave up on AJLT, which is a shame as I think it's comedy gold for podcasters.

Doubleraspberry · 16/06/2025 16:21

Thanks. I don't tend to use YouTube much. My favourite pod is Every Outfit but I've also enjoying the Guilty Feminist's take on it.

Crikeyalmighty · 16/06/2025 16:39

@FortyElephants I wonder though if this is something Cynthia Nixon insisted on rather than the writers, as gay in real life- personally I would love them to change track and she finds an interesting male love interest.

Lottapianos · 16/06/2025 17:55

'For a bitchy male take on it all: And Just Like Crap on Youtube.'

Just watched the latest episode of this - very funny 😁 thanks for the tip!

He is so missed. And I hate that they have not given Stanford's character the honour of a proper departure, rather they gave him that ridiculous and offensive storyline about his following a Tiktoker to Japan.

One reason Anthony isn't working in AJLT (other than the crap and dated Goodfellas storyline) is that he is being set up as Carrie's new "Stanford" without any of the sparkle and contrast in personality that existed between Anthony and Charlotte, and that made their unlikely friendship so endearing. I can't even remember Carrie and Anthony interacting in SATC except for the "teeny, tiny tampon" remark at Elizabeth Taylor's dog show. Anthony is still the same, I love him, and Carrie of old would have found him hilarious. Carrie in AJLT who takes herself oh so seriously? Not so much.

BurntBroccoli · 16/06/2025 19:32

Holluschickie · 15/06/2025 12:14

I wish we had more Steve. Old Steve from SATC. Not the doddering AJLT one.
I always liked him the best of all the men.

Nooooo! Such a whiny character.
