Anyone wanna join in with the pre-screening goss and hype?

Me first… SJP has posted her run through nameplate on insta. But so has this actor - a rumoured love interest for Miranda? What do we think?

God yeah. My DH said he had drives to the coast with his dad puffing on cigars with no windows allowed open! Awful. My DF smoked too in the 70s and 80s but not in the car. My DM wasn’t a smoker and wouldn’t allow it in the car. Thank heaven for her!

fruitandvegoverload · 05/06/2025 10:04

I feel that Seema would smell of a deep, musky, oud perfume which would overpower the stink of fags.

Her car would honk though, that’s true 😂

greengreyblue · 05/06/2025 16:49

Yes she’d be a mixture of expensive heavy perfume and fags!

greengreyblue · 05/06/2025 16:50

We’ve managed to eek out a week of chat on one episode! I won’t see tomorrows until the evening so I’ll avoid this thread u til I’ve seen it.

Off topic but there’s a snippet of an interview with SJP on Instagram where she explains that in all her contracts, SATC included, it’s written that she keeps the outfits. So she is the guardian of the Carrie archive.
I guess she’s now the owner of the bonkers hat then?!

Oh my god really???? What a clever, astute move! Imagine? It would be like when she went "backstage" at Vogue to the wardrobe department & it was like an Aladdin's cave of couture & shoes & bags! I think I'd pass out 😍

Me too!

Scorchio84 · 05/06/2025 17:22

Oh my god @greengreyblue it would be like the ultimate version of "Supermarket Sweep" squeezing myself into shoes that barely fit (I've done this!) & being dazzled by all the beauty 😆😍

greengreyblue · 05/06/2025 18:25

But where would we go in a Hollie Hobbie hat? I think I’d look like a nutter in my local Lidl . That’s it, I reckon she suggests styles when she knows what character her kids want to be on World Book Day!

Scorchio84 · 05/06/2025 18:51

Okay good question @greengreyblue my son would die BUT I reckon I could find a place.. I love a good hat

Loved that episode! I’m assuming some of the pieces are loaned or gifted from designers surely- and that isn’t all kept at her actual home?

Scorchio84 · 05/06/2025 20:31

@GellerYeller I'm sure you're right but I have my fantasies.. also imagine the V&A hosted a display of the wardrobes from the start?

And that’s why I love tv pace and weekly as can chat about episodes rather then binge all in 1-3 days

PurplebeadedFendi · 06/06/2025 08:05

Watched Ep2. Without (hopefully) giving too much away:

Kristen Davis's lack of acting skills and a decent storyline is becoming painful. Although the scene about college entry is quite funny and chimes with what has been going on in the US wrt minority groups, I really don't care about her whiny children.

Carrie and Aiden are painful and boring. She needs to bin him. I hope she cheats on him again to give her story some drama.

Miranda marginally less painful and boring. Welcome return of Dolly Wells.

Lisa's job this episode was to deflect from Charlotte's bad acting, and to wear clothes that make Charlotte's look normal.

Seema has a good episode. Very reminiscent of Samantha in this one. (It's so apparent that AJLT is badly missing the heart, humour and ballsiness that Samantha brought to SATC).

Lots of fashion to look at. I still can't decide whether or not I like Carrie's wardrobe. The school mom fashion parade is absurd.

Why does Carrie's massive house have such a minuscule kitchen?

Netaporter · 06/06/2025 08:25

Episode 2..,warning this post contains spoilers… read on if you don’t mind!.

Not a stellar episode but better than previous series.

Fashion notes:

I think Seema might be my spirit animal as I’m loving the fashion they give her (black dress aside, that was not a flattering length) and I loved the long white tunic. LTW also had some lovely pieces. Charlotte was dressed at all times in Charlotte wear. Carrie’s blue dress at the start was fab. Possibly norma Kamali (who I love) Snd I suspect the gifted necklace from Lisette is available to buy somewhere soon (a bit like SJP’s shoe line). Lisette was dressed like a Shoreditch hipster bore.

Storyline notes
Obviously Aidan can fuck the fuck off and when he gets there fuck off some more. Carrie needs to wake up, buy the coffee table and get rid. For a former furniture maker, he should be making all the furniture for the house. I’m furious for her. Gardener was too young for her, but I’m here for any hot love interest that isn’t JC.

Dolly Wells ❤️ At least Miranda may have landed a decent new replacement for Steve.

Cydney the matchmaker - absolute class. I love anyone who demands a martini 5 minutes ago and says ‘well done’ when it arrives 😂

Anthony’s bread door handles and light sconces were genius. More Anthony next week!

Assumed that Lily’s dancer would be Russian - no idea why - possibly because of Petrovsky in SATC who was played by a former dancer.

The college coach storyline was spot on having watched other parents pay insane amounts for Ivy League college coaches. UCAS it is not 😂

The shit furniture and teeny tiny kitchen in Carrie’s house is annoying me. There must be a second one elsewhere and I’m here for that vast expanse of loveliness. I also don’t buy that SJP would ever eat toast 😂

Cat game was strong. I am foretelling that cat being run over tho.. 😭

All in all, not bad. And as I’m on holiday I may have a gimlet later 😉

Carries house makes no sense. I feel like I need to see a floor plan.

I found this episode really boring. I was surprised when it ended because essentially nothing had happened.

I think that cat is SJP’s actual cat…

westisbest1982 · 06/06/2025 09:36

It was OK, this episode. I always enjoy seeing Dolly Wells.

I wish I could feel invested in Seema, but she still seems like Samantha 2.0 and without the layers of Sam.

I was bored with the college admissions story and my mind drifted to thinking of Felicity Huffman when she went to jail because of the Varsity Blues scandal.

I also wish the writers would sort out this Aidan thing, like move him to New York or get rid of him. I’ve read a spoiler of a future story for Carrie but I guess I can’t mention it here.

PurplebeadedFendi · 06/06/2025 09:41

This was an enduring theme in SATC. Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte were always seen exercising, occasionally angsting over weight gain and healthy eating at their shared meals. I.e. they were health conscious the same as most women trying to achieve their figures/sizes. Carrie was always scoffing curly fries and cake, hardly ever seen exercising and remaining ballet dancer slim and defined. It was part of her "cool girl" (a la Gone Girl) vibe to not be bothered by such things.

PurplebeadedFendi · 06/06/2025 09:47

Anyone else think Carrie's table choice was hideous? I think Aiden will surprise her by turning up with a load of lovingly made (but also hideous) furniture, that he's made in the barn in between dealing with psycho son and beer wanking. He'll turn up in his truck, let himself in (candy cane side table in hand) only to find Carrie serving her lemonade to the hot gardener.

PurplebeadedFendi · 06/06/2025 09:57

I wish I could feel invested in Seema, but she still seems like Samantha 2.0 and without the layers of Sam.

I thought the scene of her on all the different dates was very good, very reminiscent of Samantha's wisdom and sass.

However, the problem for the writers is that Samantha never wanted a relationship, just lots of sexual pleasure. And I think that's what made her character the least selfish of the 4, the most open hearted, the least judgmental and the most funny. I don't think I have ever seen anyone criticising her behaviour around men because she didn't play any games or demand an awful lot of them or want to change them significantly (not even Richard - all she wanted was for him to be faithful). She was the heart and soul of SATC, imo.

Whereas, Seema wants a boyfriend, and all the judgment, game playing, rules etc that comes with that comes into her storyline, and it becomes kind of sad; because time is against her and the leftover men are leftover for a reason and most are awful(I felt sad for her in this episode).

Heavy, lots of dark wood, home on the ranch-style, I reckon. He'd probably want a rocking chair.

I wonder if Carrie kept her Aiden chair?
