Think Farokh’s timing and Lindsey’s lack of oomph saved his bacon…

Love this thread - some very witty comments as per. Thanks all.

Well, that was an hour of my life stolen from me. To be followed by another hour tomorrow.

I remembered the fire eater and Farouk but the others could have been random strangers picked up in the street. As could the guest chef, they were bigging him up so much I was sure it was Michel Roux, but it was just another unknown. Glad Mary went through, at least she cooks food that looks like food and not blobs of snot.

I was very confused about Farouk dessert, it was a long list of ingredients I like so should have been right up my street, but it looked awful and I was pleased it was John and Greggg who had to chow down without throwing up.

Shall have a read through the comments now, was watching on the iPad so couldn’t join in.

And just to say, woodruff is not a plum. Woodruff is an bloody invasive bloody plant that needs a bloody goat to keep it in check. I believe the wild plum they were looking for was a bullace, or sloe. Suitable for gin but I wouldn’t want to eat one.

Greggggggs mouth hanging open all the time does he try it out in front of the mirror and think he looks cute.

Also when he said about Farouq's dessert "its a bit wet in there" gave me the boak. He said something else later but I forget it now.

That's your primordial brain protecting you.

Did you have subtitles on? I thought plum should have been plant but not sure now?

Double checked on iPlayer! With the subtitles off I thought she said plum, but this time round definitely spotted a bowl of dried up leaves labelled woodruff. Then I checked with subtitles on and they came up as plum too. So either she mis spoke and said plum not plant, or she says the word plant in a very weird way. John didn’t commit himself to plum or plant but just did a gloom and doom about overdoing it as is his wont.

You can imagine him at breakfast can’t you “If I pour too MUCH milk on my weetabix it will turn into mush and set like concrete, but on the other hand if I don’t use ENOUGH milk it will be like eating polystyrene.” His life must be a series of narrowly missed disasters with the occasional actual catastrophe thrown in to keep him on his toes.

Not very keen on bringing back past contestants. They've had their chance and it seems a bit unfair on the new 2024 people.
And didn't Matthew say he'd done some work as a private chef? If so, surely that's more professional MC territory?

viques · 01/05/2024 14:10

lettingthedaysgoby · 30/04/2024 21:34

Also just realised they all have aprons already - did they have to bring them with them? Was that the selection criteria, you can be there for comeback week if your apron is still pristine?

Lyndsey was pictured putting hers back in the locker. So mean, they are very unlikely to get another Lyndsey to pass it on to, so unless Gregg takes the spare ones home of a night for poor Mrs Greggg to launder and unpick the stitched on name so they can be reused they will just be consigned to landfill. Maybe we ought to start a petition “Give failed Masterchef contestants their aprons to take home”

ilovesooty · 01/05/2024 22:27

See you tomorrow!

Blueberrycreampie · 02/05/2024 14:18

@viques It's dilemmas like these that make you realise that MC is so much more than just a cooking show! Mind blown!

Halsall · 02/05/2024 21:01

Here we go again, Chuffs. More leftovers!

Sunbird24 · 02/05/2024 21:02

Almost can’t be bothered watching!

GrouchyKiwi · 02/05/2024 21:02
