still trying to work out how to find a decent dvd rental thingy here in Milan. It's all blockbusters, which is crappola.

southeastastra · 31/03/2008 17:06

they have it on amazon too thankfully alot of really great forgotten series are being released on dvd now.

Flame · 31/03/2008 17:26

I have a Newman & Baddiel video here somewhere with History Today on it... not sure if I can still get anywhere to copy it off though. My mum used to be able to at work

skyatnight · 31/03/2008 18:01

Thanks Flame but don't worry. I've had my fix from youtube - that will do me for now!

And does anyone remember Capital City, from the 80's? It was so bad it was good.

sorkycake · 31/03/2008 20:29

Father Ted is genius

Loved AD

Bring back takeshi's castle

I miss blackadder

marina · 31/03/2008 20:59

Really sorkycake? The one from 1972? Or the much later Canadian one with Megan Follows as Anne?

beckyvicky, I thought Capital City was a riot! But it gave Douglas Hodge and Jason Isaacs their first big break in TV, interestingly, and both have gone on to huge careers in film and theatre.

Fubsy · 31/03/2008 21:42

Yay - the High Life! Whenever I see Alan Cumming trying to be a cool Hollywood dude, I cant help thinking of him as a camp trolley dolly asking "You fae coffee?" (say it quickly and pronounce the last 'ee' as 'eh')

Pillow · 31/03/2008 22:13

Ah - I loved Capital City!!

beckyvicky · 31/03/2008 22:18

capital city is in my shopping basket on Amazon. I just haven't decided if I want to watch it again ir would it spoil the memories

skyatnight · 31/03/2008 22:30

The High Life is on youtube.

ladywombling · 31/03/2008 22:32

BadMouse,

Omri Katz! That's the one. I loved that show.

Pillow · 31/03/2008 22:39

Beckyvicky be warned - I got Chancer on DVD and was like - what?? I liked this?? I fancied him?? Some things are of their time iyswim.

Gingerbear · 31/03/2008 22:40

Traffik - the TV series, not the film
Sergeant Bilko
Shoestring
6 Million Dollar Man
Fall Guy
Dukes of Hazzard

(I know the last ones were crap, but they were so bad they were good)

rachaelsara · 31/03/2008 22:44

Prisoner Cell Block H

Pillow · 31/03/2008 22:50

Anne of Green Gables is lovely. I remember me and my sisters were tasked with cleaning the house one Christmas eve day and my mum and dad had gone out and one of the channels had a whole day of Anne. We got into so much trouble as my mum and dad came home and there was no cleaning done!

hellish · 31/03/2008 22:51

This Life my all time fave series too.

Mamazon · 31/03/2008 22:54

friends
band of gold
cracker
thundercats (ok not really a series)

Pillow · 31/03/2008 23:04

Thundercats? I loved it too, but I can't say I miss it. There was one that i would like to know the end of - where they were searching for the cities of gold. There was a big bird whose wings they flew on.

And he-man and she-ra - enjoyed those.

Mamazon · 31/03/2008 23:05

cities of gold - oh that theme tune irritated me so much.

do you remember another one, quite similar where the cars were made out of flowers and plants?

Pillow · 31/03/2008 23:10

Nooooooo. But I wish I did. I need a world where cars are made out of flowers and plants. Then I will TRAMPLE the school run in my mad dash to the station.

Remind me of my cities of gold theme tune. I know they were searching for the ciiittiiies of gold. But can't remember the rest.

Oh I have just remembered 80-days-around-the-world.

Pillow · 31/03/2008 23:28

OK - I didn't mean it about the school run. Its just that the catchment area for my school is about 9m, so I can't understand the driving. But there are VERY GOOD REASONS for it I am sure.
