Just seen my first advert that it's back!!!! Japan to Indonesia starting 10th April, brilliant, my absolute favourite!

I feel quite stressed after watching that. Bags stuck in lockers, bumbags left on buses… my nerves can’t take it. Grin

Really warming to most of the pairs now but finding it frustrating how they're not showing all pairs reaching the checkpoint by the end of the episode. I'm sure they used to!

Agree, it feels unfinished not to get them all to destination each episode.

OutOfTheHouse · 15/05/2024 22:17

Yes. That was frustrating. I don’t mind not showing the last one because you can work that out, but that was annoying.

OutOfTheHouse · 15/05/2024 22:17

When the boys couldn’t get their bag out I thought they had left it unlocked and it had all gone!

Cardinalita90 · 15/05/2024 22:20

It's sort of anticlimactic as you're so invested as a viewer by the end of an episode that by leaving it to the start of the next one it's not as impactful as you know they're.going to move straight on to the next leg within minutes. Hopefully they switch it back for future series.

Me too! 😬

SoupDragon · 15/05/2024 21:36

Oh, I hope they get their bag back! What a nightmare!

They both need to stop taking their bum bags off. They're designed to be kept on!

SoupDragon · 15/05/2024 22:45

I don't remember them only showing one pair reaching a checkpoint before.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/05/2024 23:07

The boys will be leaving as they arrive the way it's going! Maybe we see them all arrive next week. 🤔

RenoDakota · 15/05/2024 23:10

Really liked Viv tonight. She was relaxed, confident, happy and funny. And Stephen, for all his faults, is very sweet with her.

Turquoisesea · 15/05/2024 23:26

It was so interesting to see Bukittingi in Sumatra, I went there 30 years ago backpacking and got the ferry across to Malaysia and then travelled to Thailand. Would love to do it all again!
I’m suprised they didn’t show them all arriving at the checkpoint. I’m glad Betty and James got their passports back, but I think I would still like the boys to win.

Tarkan · 15/05/2024 23:31

Betty (or Bettini as the subtitle said when the woman phoned her!) and James have been SO lucky considering they've had two lost bags now. A small amount of money is nothing compared to how much they could have lost.

I really felt for them, I had that same panic at the weekend. DH and I went away for our anniversary and we popped into a pub until it was time to check in. I managed to leave my handbag there in all the fuss of making sure we had our backpack and suitcase and it had all my cards and medication for the weekend. Thankfully I was just as lucky as they were that someone nice found it and didn't touch a thing.

I liked seeing Viv being more forceful with what she wanted this week. You could see a difference in her, although I wish they could have found the street she went for. Mr Bald is funny made me laugh. It was nice to see Stephen relax a bit more too. I get the feeling he just automatically takes control and Viv often just goes along with it so it was a nice change for them, even if he did moan about the money aspect.

I agree that Eugenie pointing out the bugs for Isabel was just a bit too much.

The boys are still my favourites. I was worried they had lost their bags in those machines too, we never see them using the baggage store places though even though we know they must do that a lot so I knew something was going to happen with them when we saw it at first. I think their whole journey has been my favourite with the sights they've seen. The duck wrangling by Stephen and Viv has been the only thing any other couple has done that I would add to the list of things I'd like to do. Grin

Noooo Betty and James!

They were extremely lucky! Now need to double check each other that they each have these bags, with money in each and responsible for their own passports. They received great kindness from their home stay hosts and the bus driver who handed back Betty's bag. 🌹

I liked the way she just took charge whilst her husband just spluttered in her wake! She deserved it after last week's very uncomfortable back to back bud journeys. 🌹

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/05/2024 05:39

the boys are so earnest
they may need to get a job, all the other teams worked.

Doingmybest12 · 16/05/2024 05:45

Anyone know how the leader board looks budget wise?

Aslockton · 16/05/2024 06:54

The boys worked too, planting mangrove saplings and picking up rubbish from the swamp beaches.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/05/2024 07:25

oh yes, i forgot! thanks @Aslockton

Cattyisbatty · 16/05/2024 07:29

One of the better episodes I thought & fascinating places!
I sweated re the locker (can just imagine doing that myself!) and loss of bum bag, Betty was so calm, I would’ve been in a right state.

Elebag · 16/05/2024 07:34

Each episode needs to end with all the teams reaching the checkpoints and an update on times and budgets. It feels a let down doing it this way.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/05/2024 07:46

I have a feeling it was like that last night because the others will arrive as the boys leave next week, or very close to it, which necessitates it being shown next week.

Dulra · 16/05/2024 08:02

For those that said Eugenie was mean pointing out the bugs I think she was just having a laugh, Isabel is uptight. When Eugenie is with the others she's so lighthearted and laughing. I personally think Isabel is hard work and Eugenie always on eggshells around her. She's a young girl but seems incapable of letting go and a bit of fun

the80sweregreat · 16/05/2024 08:28

Thailand is just paradise isn't it ?
Glad the boys are doing so well , I like them both.
Viv doesn't look like the rebel sort!

SoupDragon · 16/05/2024 08:33

Isabel and Eugenie were both laughing together about the bugs in the net at the rice farm. If Isabel is that paranoid about bugs, agreeing to go on a travel race was stupid! I think Eugenie was meant to be talking about the "life" in the paddy field as an aside to the camera.
