Just seen my first advert that it's back!!!! Japan to Indonesia starting 10th April, brilliant, my absolute favourite!

Am I the only one who thinks it would be awful?
Sure, You would see some wonderful sights and get the experiences, but largely you are just sitting on buses/trains for hours upon hours!!! I am a terrible traveller though, and hate anything over 2 hours

MrsLargeEmbodied · 14/05/2024 18:38

and the cameras on you!
asking you to be interesting!

rightoguvnor · 14/05/2024 18:45

I would imagine an extra allowance.
One of the racers in season 2 had epilepsy and must have carried his meds with him (although was hospitalised once after a seizure).
In my view you would have to go far to excel Season 2, South America. The journey plus the characters racing were compelling.

LindorDoubleChoc · 14/05/2024 19:41

Yes, all the long distances on buses and trains would not appeal to me at all! I recently did a return journey to Japan - 14.5 hours on a plane each way - and I was ready to kill at the end of our journey home. And this was on the relative comfort of a couple of planes that we had been able to book well in advance and knew what we were doing.

But Steve and Viv, just for example, did back to back overnights on basic buses with no aircon. Eeeeek!

The cinematography in this show is wonderful and it makes everywhere look so fascinating and appealing, but really the contestants don't get to see much or enjoy much of it. I'm a very happy armchair participant Smile

Good luck!

Jen and Rob from series 2 were working age demographic, and Zainab and Mobeen from the last series.

Mobeen works at a local hospital. He was hounded so much when the programme was in as obviously they're sworn to secrecy about whether they won. I really wanted them to win as well.

I bet the hearts of the camera team/person accompanying them sank when they made that choice!

Yay, Wednesday is here - my favourite day 😀

EverybodyLTB · 15/05/2024 13:03

^^ me too! I watch very little telly, and pretty much never in real time. There’s a touch of nostalgia in it for me as well as the show itself. My kids really enjoy it, too so they’re allowed to stay up a bit later to watch half. Then they watch the next half tomorrow.

It is funny watching my kids watch adults have dreadful manners and communication. They’re constantly shocked at things Stephen does and the simmering rows between Eugenia and Isobel. They also think they’d do a better job, despite currently being picked up and dropped everywhere as they’re still young. They’re like yeah we could definitely get across Cambodia quicker than that 😂

scissy · 15/05/2024 13:31

My DD is enjoying RATW as SATs distraction. She loved the duck herding, although claimed the episode as a whole was not as funny as "penis park". She also finds Isobel and Eugenie's bickering irritating and Stephen rude at times.
They've pitched it right I feel as we're both enjoying it, which is a hard ask!

TokyoSushi · 15/05/2024 13:50

Love a Wednesday! And I can watch it in real time tonight rather than on catch up!

OP posts:
Newestname002 · 15/05/2024 14:58

I'm also looking forward to tonight's episode but hoping Eugenie and Isobel reach a mutual place of understanding each other in a positive way. The bickering, and the thought that Eugenie may well throw in the towel on this journey makes for uncomfortable viewing. 🌹

TokyoSushi · 15/05/2024 21:00

Here we go!

Youtwodeserveoneanother · 15/05/2024 21:04

TokyoSushi · 15/05/2024 21:06

Looks like the boys have all had their hair cut!

OP posts:
Sandytoxic · 15/05/2024 21:12

Is it just or is the camera very wobbly tonight? Can it not just focus on someone’s face?

SoupDragon · 15/05/2024 21:15

I thought that - Owen had a tan line 😂

Higglings · 15/05/2024 21:28

Remind me please- where is the final destination?

TokyoSushi · 15/05/2024 21:30

Somewhere in Malaysia!

The boys seem like they're back on it today!
