Just seen my first advert that it's back!!!! Japan to Indonesia starting 10th April, brilliant, my absolute favourite!

OP posts:
MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/04/2024 05:56

that was a good episode,
penis park looks interesting!

valjane · 18/04/2024 06:12

I find Sharon and Bridie really annoying. The two boys seem to be getting a lot of airtime. I like the one who grew up with his grandma - Alfie? I can't even remember the names of the brother and sister. They hardly seem to figure.

Elebag · 18/04/2024 07:19

Betty and James are the brother and sister. I really thought they'd be the leaders at this stage as she's travelled before.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/04/2024 07:28

perhaps the brother and sister will pull their socks up

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/04/2024 07:31

just read a snippet on alfie and owen, neither had a watch previously,
i remember when my dd was an explorer and met up for a trek and not one of the group had a watch!

Yes I'm surprised they've not bought a new map - would seem logical , although the two boys seemed to know where places are so perhaps they just "borrow" the camera teams map ?

I did warm to the 2 boys more especially hearing how I've of them grew up with his Grandma and obey was tightish.

I think Sharon and Byrdie will catch up because as has been mentioned already sibetines being first and leaving at 2am isn't that helpful.

Steve - hmm was wiling him to fall off a ladder thatching (not really but he is annoying !!!). Mind you my DH was wondering if Steve as her husband no 3 had overlapped with her husband no 2 - he also bc wondered if he had so many jobs because he got fired a lot (due to be annoying) ?

I also wondered if she was still married to her previous husband when Steve started visiting her a lot in the photocopying room.

I like Sharon and Brydie, but I'm wondering whether they do get eliminated on the next leg as someone else said they appear to be getting quite a lot of airtime.

EvilRingahBitch · 18/04/2024 08:00

I have very low tolerance for scenes of the teams learning and growing and rebuilding their relationship; that's screen time that could more usefully have been used to explain whether those were cheese and ham or cheese and jam sandwiches that Viv made, and how you go about getting the makings from a Japanese supermarket. Did she have a whole roll of tin foil in her backpack?

Anyway, despite this, I thought that setting the boys' chatting and exploring their relationship in the penis park made the whole thing much more palatable. Note to crew.

I bloody loved Alfie and Owen in the Penis Park. TV Gold.Grin

I think she still has a 'travelling' mindset and not a 'racing' one.

Their comments seemed very restrained. I would like to see the outtakes I'll bet they were a bit too rude to broadcast.

I think it's quite likely we will lose them as they hadn't even made it to the checkpoint by the end and seemed to be in no hurry.

Riverlee · 18/04/2024 08:55

And yet in the first episode, I think we all had Sharon and Bridie being the ones to watch. They seemed the just united from the outset.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 18/04/2024 08:55

I liked the boys last night, yy to puppy dog enthusiasts and I liked that Owen mentioned that Alfie's upbringing had been tougher than his own. I can also see them having a big fallout at some point!

Stephen is so rude, I get the feeling his wife has terrible taste in men.

I thought South Korea looked amazing, that appeals more than Japan.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/04/2024 09:04

I said this to DH as we watched. How was number 2 worse than Stephen, so much so that Stephen seemed to be a better prospect?! 🤯

BeaLola · 18/04/2024 09:05

Re the sarnies - we decided she had made them up at the hotel before they left!

Re S Korea - DS was there last year and had an amazing time - he said the people were all so lovely and helpful - he certainly spent a lot of money on street food

No 2 was a serial killer or bigamist or ran off with all her money leaving Stephen the best bet ?

Wonkypictureframe · 18/04/2024 09:24

I’ve been to Japan and loved it, and this programme has made me want to go back AND take in South Korea too.

theresnolimits · 18/04/2024 09:33

I really liked the boys this episode too. They’re so young and it does illustrate how volatile those early years are. Good for them for taking it on.

Weirdly I didn’t like the look of Japan much ~ very built up. And it’s been on my wish list for years.

The brother and sister are very disappointing ~ she is a ‘traveller’ yet seems a bit adrift and narrow minded.

Isabel is still my fave. What an organised and charming young woman. Her mum could give out a bit more praise.

the80sweregreat · 18/04/2024 09:38

I like Betty a lot , but the brother seems a bit odd, maybe he is just more competitive ?
The lady has been married 3 times! They look like they have been together forever don't they !!
Dh has been to Japan and S Korea with work
He loved both , but it doesn't appeal to me at all tbh. I'd rather go to Thailand I think , but probably won't !

Countmeout · 18/04/2024 09:53

I’m not sure we saw the best bits of Japan . I haven’t been (yet) but definitely think there are more to it than we saw. It was really so quick and I think you’d need time.

I liked Sharon and Brodie and would be disappointed if they went. I have to say the boys irritate me.

Riverlee · 18/04/2024 09:56

Has anyone noticed how the narrator has given everyone nicknames?

‘The boys’ and ‘the siblings’ . Actually, not sure if the others have nicknames as well, but I noticed these were referred to a lot with these names .

Wonkypictureframe · 18/04/2024 09:58

Japan has really busy cities but so much of it is countryside. Nara is wonderful and is only
really a medium sized town with the huge royal park to the side. And even in the cities there are gardens and temples.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/04/2024 10:06

God imagine being Viv spending your life apologising for a man. Exhausting but a lot of martyrdom going on as well. As others have said How Bad WAS Husband #2 that Stephen was a desirable alternative??

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/04/2024 10:16

Brydie and Sharon seem to have misunderstood the whole assignment really

the80sweregreat · 18/04/2024 10:39

I want Isabel and her mum to win.
Such a great couple.
I don't mind the two boys, but that penis park place was seriously weird.
