School dinners - pink custard! Semolina with tiny spoon of jam

If you can't serve it with a ladle then it can't be counted as a school dinner.

I remember the rice looking like maggots, appropriately enough for this programme

Fun fact: William Sitwell attended Eton College. He didn’t mention that in his school-dinner reminiscences.

The first primary school I went to served a lemon meringue pie which, imo, has never been bettered.

Or. Hm. I could do a PB&J sandwich, but the sandwich is cake and the PB is ice cream and it has a berry compote. With a tuile.
