Hello,

Looking for my next show, is Kim worth watching? Reviews online are mixed 😊

Loved it , hoping there is a series 3

I've read there isn't one in the pipeline.

App13 · 23/03/2024 16:02

Bleating amazing 👏

I loved Kin. Enjoyed how it built on shit decision after shit decision and hearts ruling heads. Series 3 main protagonist in particular is excellent - an awful, awful man, so brutal. Brilliantly acted!

We're on S3 of Love/Hate and I'm finding it's lacking substance. Filmed like an A Level Film Studies project by an over enthusiastic Danny Boyle fan.

Found all the Darren looking Tortured Soul all the time irritating.

I do want to enjoy it and as I'm stubborn will continue to watch the rest Grin

Yep, the Darren as Tortured Soul character who happens to be good looking is a bit frustrating. Overlooked it as the rest of the series was so good

I LOVED it. Finished it the other night and I'm in mourning a little bit.
S2 was even better, with the nutjob older brother (to Birdy and Frank) being released from prison.

JMSA · 23/03/2024 17:03

KIN, I mean. Haven't yet seen Love/Hate.

ManchesterBeatrice · 24/03/2024 20:25

Tried episode two, and just felt fairly unmoved and a bit bored by all. I don't think I'll continue. 😫

It’s worth continuing!

(but also try The Gentlemen on Netflix 😂)

I’m bereft after finishing love/hate.definitely persevere.

I’d also recommend Hidden Assets on iPlayer.

smithson999 · 24/03/2024 22:44

Loved it. I felt it was an Irish breaking bad !

ManchesterBeatrice · 25/03/2024 09:12

I think I will! I think I was disappointed not to be hooked after last night. I don't feel any engagement to the characters yet but maybe that will come 😊

Hidden Assets! Yes! Brilliant!

We started watching last night but gave up half way through the first episode - a combination of too much swearing, not understanding accents, couldn't see what was going on due to darkness and not understanding the plot.

This is usually OH's kind of thing and had been recommended by a friend but even he isn't interested in continuing.

Loved it, and loved The Gentlemen too which surprised me. As another poster said, I won’t be going to Ireland for a relaxing break especially after watching The Tourist as well.

Thanks for this previous thread, this post summed up how I feel at the moment much better than I could!

"I've watched the first couple of episodes but to be honest I'm a bit bored. Apart from the end of the first episode and the scene in episode 2 with Frank in the car at the bar (not saying in case I spoil it for anyone but I wasn't expecting it!) it's been a bit dull. And I don't like any of the characters. It's hard to have sympathy for them when they chose to bring children in to that world."

Love/Hate is the best Irish show. Kin is good and definitely worth watching but Love/Hate is in another league.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/03/2024 12:13

Guess that's the life of crime @ManchesterBeatrice

Reminded me of Irish gangs of London

I loved that as well

ManchesterBeatrice · 25/03/2024 16:15

This is very true!!

I must try again with Love/Hate. I couldn't even make it through the first episode.

Netaporter · 25/03/2024 20:29

@JMSA tbf, the first episode is shite, The second not much better, but then you get hooked…😉

musthorse · 26/03/2024 00:09

I read the other day that the first series is a bit soap opera and then it really takes on a different atmosphere.

It did have an air of late 90s Hollyoaks about it Grin

ManchesterBeatrice · 29/03/2024 07:12

So, thanks everybody, I went back, and got hooked, on about episode three. Went straight onto episode four now, now seen episode five as well, and can't wait for episode six.

It's definitely fair to say that you do need to give it three episodes, just like you all said, so thank you for encouraging me to persevere.
