Did realise it was on although was aware it was coming up soon. Maybe because I don’t have kids in school anymore.

Lenny Henry is 65 years old now! He’s looking good.

I LOVE musicals and was excited to spot some actors in the cast that I've seen in other things, but bloody hell, that looks BAAAAD. The chap playing Geldof was painfully awful.

I remember the first one. It was chaotic and irreverent. You could tell everyone was quite drunk by the end of it. That's what was the beauty of it. Today everything has to be so rehearsed and professional and slick that there's no room for any anarchic humour and fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants live tv.

I remember its predecessor - The Secret Policeman's Ball.

Is Kate Winslet swearing meant to be funny?

An thank the lord that we were spared from hearing the word "fuck" after 9.30 on a Friday night. <clutches pearls>

Willmafrockfit · 15/03/2024 21:41

Who is Molly king

Willmafrockfit · 15/03/2024 21:42

Oh I missed the traitors

Ulysees · 15/03/2024 21:44

I'm watching on catch up. George Michael 😔💔

PaulGalico1 · 15/03/2024 21:46

I remember the Secret Policeman's Ball for Amnesty which became Red Nose - it was new, irreverent and most importantly funny.

Who is Molly king

She was part of The Saturdays

PaulGalico1 · 15/03/2024 21:46

Yes, George ❤

LookItsMeAgain · 15/03/2024 21:47

I must be getting old because I’m just not finding the skits that funny anymore.

HermioneGrangerly · 15/03/2024 21:47

Rich people begging poorer people for money
No

6thspice · 15/03/2024 21:56

It's all a cringe fest now tbh

Ulysees · 15/03/2024 22:05

Used to be hilarious years ago. French and Saunders etc..

I did enjoy seeing the people who've been helped. Really moving.

imfae · 15/03/2024 22:15

Watching it a bit delayed on iplayer .
Haven't watched it for years . Some bits are a bit cringey and I find the number of presenters a bit distracting .
Loved the W1A bits and the real life bits are very moving so I am finding it a teary .

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 15/03/2024 22:20

Not watching. Haven't in years. Lenny Henry is not funny in the slightest and he looked awful on the advert for it.

PaulGalico1 · 15/03/2024 22:23

I think the real life bits are moving but it isn't funny. I think the key people involved are now too old and out of touch (I'm in my 60's). Richard Curtis, Lenny...and the temptation is to rehash old shows and rely on bland mainstream presenters like Joel Dommett. Lenny is right - it's time to retire.

Motherproblem101 · 15/03/2024 22:26

Strange. I didn't know it was on. I haven't heard a thing about it. I haven't seen any red noses or anything to purchase in the shops like in previous years. I also work in a primary school and haven't heard or seen anything about it there either!

wubwubwub · 15/03/2024 22:30

Aren't they normally sold only in Sainsbury's?

Motherproblem101 · 15/03/2024 22:35

wubwubwub · 15/03/2024 22:30

Aren't they normally sold only in Sainsbury's?

Ah, that could be why I haven't seen any merchandise. Still, strange that it wasn't a thing at school.

theresnoonequitelikegrandma · 15/03/2024 23:04

This year the noses were only sold by Amazon I think although the T shirts were in TK
Maxx. I think they've been struggling for a few years now with the noses being not environmentally friendly tbh.

They're showing old clips on the Lenny Henry tribute thing now and it just reminds me how funny it used to be!

wubwubwub · 15/03/2024 23:11

So which was better the comic relief Traitors spoof?
2023 or 2024?

wubwubwub · 15/03/2024 23:13

...am I imagining things, but didn't Comic Relief used to be every other year?

Seems like it's every year now??

VelvetandLace · 15/03/2024 23:14

I think the early ones had very talented and funny people on. It’s not as entertaining now.

LIZS · 15/03/2024 23:15

It alternated with Sport Relief but the lines have blurred they are now very similar.

QueenBitch666 · 16/03/2024 00:52

I'd rather pull my own teeth
