I want to know more about that QR thing Iwan was doing - it seemed to be some sort of IKEA warehouse app where you find your summer clothes in aisle 12, position 97 of your own personal warehouse or something.

WHERE were those containers going? In the garage maybe? (was there a garage?) The daughter said the attic was rammed.

They'll never be worn. It's not possible. She'll just buy more and more.

TheAverageJoanne · 25/02/2025 22:19

I'd quite like Rob in my house.

I love him.

However, that curtain thing in the kitchen? My great great auntie Nora had that in her kitchen from the 1940s onwards. Just no.
(And I'm pretty sure that telly got stuck halfway)

wildfellhall · 25/02/2025 23:22

Loved it but that Telly in front of the window was beyond minging and that raising shaft surely won't last.

I enjoyed the show but I won't lie, gnashers swash ain't no Dilly.

I LOVE HER

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/02/2025 23:22

The money they will have wasted!

Yourethebeerthief · 25/02/2025 23:25

Aw I thought the telly doo dah was a sweet thing to do for them. The poor guy had nothing of his own. It was all her bloody clothes, shoes, and pans!

SpotlessLeopard · 25/02/2025 23:39

That’s the first time I’ve watched and didn’t think there was a chance of them not ending up back where they were. She was the least engaged with it I’ve ever seen. I do think Dilly would have been tougher and made her part with more, but I still don’t think she’d have changed for the long term.

But some of those pans were from India and therefore could not possibly be got rid of. Or something.

Booooooom · 26/02/2025 00:03

I love Dilly, the programme needed her tonight, it wasn't as good without her.

wildfellhall · 26/02/2025 07:53

It is a very successful formula which has been built on the team chemistry and camaraderie but Dilly is crucial and Solomon did acknowledge it last night.

I know she's been very seriously ill but is better now? I wonder (selfishly) is she's back for much of this series?

It was interesting seeing how Iwan was a bit freaked out by the warehouse psychology and went and sat with the cleaning materials. He looked a bit upset. That was kind of adorable - he was way out of his comfort zone. It is a hugely emotional process and they are in the middle of it.

Seeing Iwan in the loft with all that woman's shmatta seemed proof of failure.

I sometimes wonder whether, on some more challenging episodes, they don't divert a couple of lorries after the sorting away from the house to a big storage unit and leave the family with the bill. It would be fair enough - they're given the chance to shed as much as possible.

I saw the programme win a prize last year and Solomon thanked the families which I thought was a nice touch. The team do seem genuine but they can't be doing it all in the houses themselves without an army of help behind the scenes can they?

I wonder whether the timescales are a lot looser maybe the family go away for longer so the decorators etc can finish?

TickingAlongNicely · 26/02/2025 07:56

I think it would be better if they had employed another "professional" not just random members of Stacey's family (sister, husband, and now son).

Really don't like the curtain under the kitchen counter to house the pan pull out thingy.

Also hate this monstrosity of the TV unit. They should have put the bigger TV in the living room and the smaller one on a different wall in the bedroom. Not right in front of yhe window!

The older daughter's bedroom is the best.

I agree. With the pan thing, what is they need one at the back? Surely a few shelves would be more useful.

In the pilot eposide you can see a full team of organisers and decorators running around in the background. My friend’s neighbours had one of those make over shows in their house. My friends complained that they were weoking until 3 in the morning, making lots of nosie and the quality of finish was awful.

I agree but Joe coming in saying “this looks exactly like my house growing up” is relatable. Dilly also describes her issues with growing up in similar chaos. I grew up in a house which was in disarray permanently and this episode resonated with me when the daughter now had sleepovers. I could never invite people back to my house - nowhere to sit, no table to sit around etc etc. A huge part of my childhood/teenage years were given over to feelings of anxiety, embarrassment and anger at the state of our house beyond my own room. I had a SAHM mother who literally did nothing all day except smoke and chill out. Meals were ready meals, no cooking. At least twice a year I would tidy up SYLO style and within a week it would be back to the same state. When my parents became ill at the end of life, the OT’s wouldn’t release either of them home until it was no longer cluttered and a hazard to both them or any carers. I spent a week with a handyman and two skips to get the house ready to get them home. It was cathartic but also sad to see how the house could’ve been for all of those years. I watch this show without judgement but with a tinge of sadness. Needless to say, my own house is clean, tidy and my DD has never felt embarrassed by it. I’ve made a huge point of eating meals together as a focal point of family life. I’m not perfect by any means but I have tried really hard to break the cycle for the benefit of my own DD.

Highly doubt they actually do much though. It's just to fill some chit chat on screen. There will be a huge team of people doing most of the hard graft.

mazylou · 26/02/2025 08:36

Have you seen the number of runners/production assistants on the credits?

wildfellhall · 26/02/2025 08:57

There are a lot of people and also designer type job titles who may be having a lot of the solutions for the team!

Putthefingthingsaway -
Your post was really moving 😍

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/02/2025 09:24

I'm getting really into SYLO, I've started watching all the series on iplayer and caught the last half of last nights episode.

There's a common theme is around keeping hold of memories and then getting so overwhelmed by stuff you can't see the wood for the trees.

The one I watched last night was from the first series about a single mum and her 3 daughters. Lovely family but the mum has struggled to accept her girls were growing up and also move on from her divorce 8 years previously.

Watching it makes me feel much better about my own home! I'm not perfect but too much stuff stresses me out so I'm always trying to minimise clutter and pass on stuff to charity shops etc. it is possible to do that and hold onto the things that have real sentimental value.

I didn't like the finish of last nights episodes, the pans and kitchen looked awful and the house still felt cramped and dark.

WhenDoISleep · 26/02/2025 11:02

It was noticeable in last night’s episode that other than the giant tv in the bedroom that there didn’t seem to be anything in the house that belonged to the dad at all.

Ihavetoomuchtodo · 26/02/2025 11:10

It’s not the same without Dilly

Bankholidayhelp · 26/02/2025 11:22

How was the freezer being accessed? It was under the counter and I thought it was a chest freezer?

That pan hanger thing seemed a bit like a waste of space and I bet she has loads more pans.

I burst out laughing when they repurposed that IKEA storage cube after her saying she hated it and was pleased to get rid.

All those shoes will be covered in dust in about 3 days.

I missed Dilly.

I also think there's a storage unit with stuff in.

Yeah- but I have to admit those storage cube things are the absolute dog’s for keeping toy clutter under control. I did think it was weird they didn’t tell people to turn the electricity off before attempting to clean their extractor fan. I know it should be obvious but still……

Thisisthewayz · 26/02/2025 11:28

I agree with the other comments, the curtain thing in the kitchen looks awful, I remember my Nana had something like that in her kitchen! So outdated!😂 Also agree there’s no way everything from the warehouse came back, she kept far more clothes than was in her wardrobe, plus they didn’t even look in the attic which was meant to overflowing.

wildfellhall · 26/02/2025 12:10

I think last night's episode was probably my least favourite of all the seasons.

It felt different to their usual episodes, less convincing all round and the main woman seemed less convincing as likely to change.

I think it was partly a casting issue and a loss of Dilly issue.

wildfellhall · 26/02/2025 12:11

The rising Telly, the under sink curtain (could work in a mire cottagey house) and the pan expanders were all unstylish solutions.
