This is new to me but started a year or so again on acorn tv

another detective /murder series - hopefully easy watching by the coast

Pearl Nolan, single mother of a grown son, is a private detective who, together with her mum, runs the Whitstable Pearl, a seafood restaurant in the coastal town of Whitstable (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitstable).[1][2]

When a friend dies under suspicious circumstances, Pearl finds herself in conflict with g
ruff new-cop-in-town, detective Mike McGuire.

Watched the first episode this week and am hooked. I used to really like The Coroner and was fed right up when that ended but this show has something of the quality of The Coroner about it. Light, fun, enough story and pace to keep your interest, great characters and lovely scenery.

DPotter · 09/03/2024 15:09

I watched the 2 series on Acorn and looking forward to season 3!

Stressedgiraffe · 09/03/2024 15:09

It was on alibi . I've seen 2 seasons. They are good.

Stressedgiraffe · 09/03/2024 15:10

Sorry acorn. Used to have a subscription but now stream.

RampantIvy · 09/03/2024 15:11

Do you have to pay to stream from Acorn?

I've downloaded the UKTVPlay app. It's free and has Drama, Dave, W and Yesterday channels.

Am presuming it'll be available on there after it's been shown in real time scheduling as it were.

Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2024 17:07

Yes I have that app and often watch stuff with a baby over my shoulder

Some good things on it

I'm just watching the Marlowe Murder thingy with Samantha Bond. I'm listening to the audio book too, so that's an interesting experience.

RampantIvy · 09/03/2024 17:57

I have set to record this. We watched the Marlow Murder Club last night and really enjoyed it. There are never too many crime dramas on TV IMO.

medianewbie · 09/03/2024 18:02

Is it actually set in Whitstable please?

martinisforeveryone · 09/03/2024 18:28

Whitstable Pearl was filmed in Kent, England from October 2020 to January 202112. The majority of the filming took place in Whitstable, including at the harbour, the yacht club, and the beach. Various scenes were also shot in Margate, the Port of Ramsgate, Dover, and Hernhill

From a search.
Edit. I didn't want that to be a link, but it's determined it will be one.

Annoyed I erroneously put a Philip Marlowe E on the end of the Thames-side location. Your fictional detectives will do that to you 🙄

I always like watching things more when local
