This is new to me but started a year or so again on acorn tv

another detective /murder series - hopefully easy watching by the coast

Pearl Nolan, single mother of a grown son, is a private detective who, together with her mum, runs the Whitstable Pearl, a seafood restaurant in the coastal town of Whitstable (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitstable).[1][2]

When a friend dies under suspicious circumstances, Pearl finds herself in conflict with g
ruff new-cop-in-town, detective Mike McGuire.

Once it been on tv it's fair game @martinisforeveryone

Yeah, I know, but I probably need a gentle nudge to recall exactly what I was watching. I've spent the winter watching a hell of a lot of TV and sometimes it all starts to meld into one 😂

I checked, it was the kind of Robin Hood storyline. To be honest, I'm focussing less on the crime and more on Pearl and Mike McGuire's chats, which I like.

squirrelslikenuts · 25/03/2024 00:10

It's on Drama. So should be available on UKTV.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2024 20:30

2 was about random acts of kindness

Pearl is hired to look into a large amount of money left in her mailbox

E4 tonight

A young widow hired Pearl to investigate when she gets an anon note claiming her dh didn't take his life 7yrs ago

Not sure what this will be like as dh took his own life so I'm always wary about suicide things on tv

Hi everyone. I'm the author of the Whitstable Pearl books which the series is based on and I'm an executive producer of the show, so I'm really pleased to hear that you have been enjoying it so far. Just to give full information, Seasons 1 and 2 of Whitstable Pearl first streamed on the subscription channel Acorn TV and are still doing so, together with a 30 minute feature on the making of the series. Season 1 is currently showing on the Drama channel (Freeview channel 20 and on Sky 143) with the 6th of 6 episodes going out this Thursday 18th April - but you can catch up with all the episodes so far on UKTV Play (also Freeview). At some point, Season 2 will also go out on Drama but I don't yet have a date for that. We are currently filming Season 3 in the studio and in Whitstable. There are 9 books in my Whitstable Pearl series with the 10th, Murder at the Allotment due for publication in May with a launch event at Whitstable's literary festival, WhitLit, with all profits (and from any book sales on the night) going to a local charity. If you would like to come along, details are on this poster. (Tickets £12 from www.ticketsource.co.uk/whitlit and if you would like more information about the books and the TV series, you can always go to my website: www.juliewassmer.com where there's a Locations section of some fab photos of all the settings I've used so far for the books. 🙂Best wishes, Julie Wassmer

Whitstable Pearl was filmed in Kent, England from October 2020 to January 202112. The majority of the filming took place in Whitstable, including at the harbour, the yacht club, and the beach. Various scenes were also shot in Margate, the Port of Ramsgate, Dover, and Hernhill

From a search.
Edit. I didn't want that to be a link, but it's determined it will be one.

Annoyed I erroneously put a Philip Marlowe E on the end of the Thames-side location. Your fictional detectives will do that to you 🙄

Edited

Now watching the first episode. The hotel is the Walpole Bay in Margate. I recognise the lift from when I stayed there!

Have only just seen this thread.

I've really enjoyed Series 1.
I assumed it was older as it was on 'Drama'. I just randomly came across it on Virgin Catch up.
Will look forward to when we can see Series 2.
How exciting to get inside knowledge. Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun
