Sorry about the unimaginative thread title!

And also many of the contestants have trained with the likes of Tom Kerridge and other chefs at the top of their game, is that an unfair advantage? Tom has had to sit out that round and not judge them in case of any perceived bias.

Think it's bad they've not adjusted tables etc to make Stewart the same height as everyone else sat down.

Yes, I noticed that straight away and commented to DH that his elbows were not at comfortable resting height. My brother is a wheelchair user so I am quite vigilant about that sort of thing. That said, a standard wheelchair seat is usually at a similar height to a dining chair, so that table must be unusually high.

@LIZS he swapped places with Ed because when the camera panned out you could see that the table supports were three tripods and the person in the usual guest seat has to have one leg ether side of a tripod leg. That would not have been possible in a chair.

I did think it was hilarious that, after all the praise for the lasagne main course during the week, the judging panel all went “meh” and then salivated over the cut of rare meat presented on a platter complete with decorative bones!

Kirk is way out ahead with his dessert, that’s the one to beat in finals week. And would work perfectly if he won it because its vegan nature is irrelevant.

It was interesting that they all loved Kirk’s pre-dessert after everyone hated it in the previous rounds. I wonder if he changed it?

BiliousOhGod · 01/03/2024 09:55

I'm wondering if the weekly judging is more on an "everyman" basis, and Tom et al do it as professionals (or the other way round!), so you get them loving a weird taste combo that the banquet attendees with their "less-refined" palates would not like.

shearwater2 · 01/03/2024 10:03

I think it's just subjective and people like different things.

AndiOliversGlasses · 01/03/2024 10:03

I see where you’re coming from, but the final panel has 2 non-chefs on it whereas during the week Andi is the only non-chef.

LemonRedwood · 01/03/2024 10:10

Andi is a chef.

Andi is a chef.

Is she? I thought she was a presenter and singer in a punk band who had a restaurant at one point but wasn’t the chef in it?

Let's hope Northern Ireland produces a bit of excitement. They normally leave a couple of good chefs until the last heat or two in the schedule. (There, I've just jinxed it. They'll be scoring 2's and 3's all round.)

EsmaCannonball · 05/03/2024 20:04

Knew Mary Peters would be involved.

jay55 · 05/03/2024 20:05

Evening. Yay for two lady chefs.

I might need subtitles tonight.

littlbrowndog · 05/03/2024 20:05

Evening.

EsmaCannonball · 05/03/2024 20:06

Has Andi done a Maria Von Trapp with some 1990's curtains?

Sunbird24 · 05/03/2024 20:06

The NI chefs were really struggling last time. Anyone remember a couple of years back when Richard Corrigan clearly hadn’t been briefed that they help each other plate, and was tearing into the first chef in a really unpleasant way?

littlbrowndog · 05/03/2024 20:08

Wow andies outfit. Not my favourite so far

EsmaCannonball · 05/03/2024 20:08

I'm forever going out without my croustade iron. Such a bugger when you do that.

Octocat · 05/03/2024 20:08

Oh! Just remembered the NI chef who went out first last year who didn’t understand how to link to the brief AT ALL. It was excruciatingly brilliant to watch. Grin

Sunbird24 · 05/03/2024 20:08

I know @EsmaCannonball, never go anywhere without mine

He can be an arse.

jay55 · 05/03/2024 20:09

Knew he'd show up once you mentioned that fit he threw.

Ugh.

littlbrowndog · 05/03/2024 20:10
