Couldn’t see a thread so started one, as I spotted it on my TV schedule for 8pm tonight!

6 and 7 🤐

EsmaCannonball · 15/02/2024 20:58

Yep, no 'I actually gave your dish a 10' this week.

Allchangename354 · 15/02/2024 20:58

Have only followed here but wish judges be shown the footage and decide whether to put anyone through or bring back a runner up.

littlbrowndog · 15/02/2024 20:58

Gawd our worst week ever

Sunbird24 · 15/02/2024 20:59

Judges are grasping for compliments

Meh. Least worst on the day, I guess.

Ajay is going to struggle, I think. But as the finals chefs usually work closely together, will he try and use them as his sous chefs??

lettingthedaysgoby · 15/02/2024 21:02

Only one dish scored over 30? (and that was 31 for Ajay's main).

catwithflowers · 15/02/2024 21:03

Wouldn't mind cooking Ajay's lamb for the family this Easter. It is a very homely dish though. A bit of a car crash of a week wasn't it? 😩

NeedWineNow · 15/02/2024 21:03

Blimey those scores were low. Mind you, from the opening previews it looks as though Michael O'Hare gives someone a 4 during his judging week so perhaps we haven't seem the worse.

I thought Calum was the main reason for the tension but now I am thinking it might have been Ajay all along 😬

Honestly yesterday I felt like everyone was very down on Calum while I was not hugely impressed with Ajay. Today has not done anything to dispel that.

Couldn't comment along today as I was busy sewing while watching on my phone, but I had a sinking feeling the whole time that Ajay would go through as they clearly liked his food more, while in the kitchen he came across really badly. Sadly I was correct.

mrstea301 · 15/02/2024 22:36

Sorry if this has been covered before - do the chefs apply for this or are they invited?

Shame there was such an atmosphere in the kitchen, I really wasn't sure who was going to go through.

Definitely want to try Swadish tho!

I believe they are invited.

I think whoever invited the Scottish chefs is going to need to cast their net wider next year.

SpttyMaldoon · 17/02/2024 08:32

Just finished watching and I’m feeling so tense, not my usual Saturday morning treat.

I think there should be a minimum score they should achieve, the problem would be that certain parts of the UK would not be represented in the Finals week, but it’s sad to see other great chefs being left out instead.

didn’t like Ajay, his fake smile didn’t sit well with me at all.

I only discovered this show a couple of years ago and remember thinking this was such a bit step up from Professional Masterchef, but we’ve seen much better dishes in Masterchef than on this week’s round.

Jellycatspyjamas · 17/02/2024 09:51

I started thinking I’d like to try Swadish but the more I saw of Ajay the less I want to give him my money. He came across as being thoroughly unpleasant - no wonder the food wasn’t great given the apparent atmosphere in the kitchen.

OnTheBoardwalk · 18/02/2024 21:01

Can't believe I missed this thread! I'm off to catch up

just wanted to say, as other posters have, 6's from the judges absolutely awful! They’ve been many many better dishes not got through from other regions

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there should be a wild card from each dish put through for the ones that got away

i think I heard one of the veterans say they wanted someone to win from their region as they wanted to be invited to the banquet? Don’t think Angela needs to keep a space in her diary for the event

catwithflowers · 19/02/2024 07:22

@Jellycatspyjamas I agree with this! We also started out thinking that we might like to give his place a try but after watching last week's' episodes have decided not to bother. He came across as rather unpleasant ☹️

Caledoniadreaming · 19/02/2024 12:59

Just found this thread, interesting reading the comments re last week (Scotland) - I said to my DH on Tuesday I like this one the least, because while all the chefs/veterans/guests talk about Scottish produce being some of the best in the world, which it is, I rarely see Scottish chefs living up to the billing.

It was embarrassing last week, although as PPs have said, possibly not the worst given Michael O'Hare is filmed giving somebody a 4. However, mussel shells in the dish are pretty unforgivable at any chef level.

Here's hoping Wales gives a good showing.

jay55 · 19/02/2024 15:54

I'm still in a bit of shock over last week. I know there have been tantrums before and rudeness, most in the heat of the moment.
But it felt like there was a mean edge, and I was left with thinking that's how they are with their peers, in front of Andi and the viewing public, what are they like with staff behind closed doors. And what was left on the editing floor.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 19/02/2024 15:56

Last week was awful. Surely this week has to be better.

Sedgwick · 20/02/2024 16:54

Scottish week was painful to watch. I felt so sorry for Andi. Kevin seemed fine but Callum and Ajay were unpleasant.

lazarusb · 20/02/2024 17:21

I caught up with last week's episodes last night. Thoroughly unpleasant to watch, I wouldn't want to work with either Ajay or Callum. I suspect quite a lot was said off camera to the Judges too. Having said that, I can't see any of Ajay's dishes actually getting to the banquet.

CurlewKate · 20/02/2024 20:04

All blokes again...

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2024 20:04

'Since opening the restaurant I've got a lot of accolades, a lot of recognition' ...... and a lot of tattoos.

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2024 20:06

Nick looks like Freddie from Freddie and the Dreamers.

BIWI · 20/02/2024 20:09

What's with the fully tattoed arms?
Odd that two of the chefs have them.
