Our Flag Means Death got cancelled by HBOMax last week - two seasons in to a three-season arc, and I'm so sad. Pre-production hiring had already begun, for crying out loud! The BBC have season one on iPlayer, and I really want to see how it ends.

There's a huge effort to try and change the minds of the execs, and to that end if you could sign/share the petition I'd be so so grateful. It might not help, but it definitely won't hurt.
Here it is: Petition link here

Stupidly watched "last man on earth" not realising it had been cancelled on a cliff hanger. Also still very resentful Netflix cancelled Drew Barrymore's "Santa Clarita Diet" - it was Drew Barrymore, come one Netflix!
Wouldn't it be great if all the cliffhanger ended shows could have a 1 hr TV film just to tie up the story line?

Bobbotgegrinch · 18/01/2024 16:48

I only watch shows that have already finished now, or that I know end each season properly, without cliffhangers.

There's enough stuff that already made that I want to watch that I'll never get round to all of it anyway, and I've been burned too many times in the past.

Yes, it means I'll never have that cultural experience of booking a meeting room in work for lunchtime so we could all share our theories about Lost, but streaming kind of killed that whole "We're all following along at the same pace" thing anyway.

whynotwhatknot · 18/01/2024 16:52

the americans are the worst they literally cancel mid series

tru calling anyone?

inthehammock · 18/01/2024 16:52

@jujuhey I can't quite remember the ending, but it definitely left room for "what next" (and it's based on a book series so plenty more material). I'd watch it any way because it's great, just in the sad knowledge that once it over that's it.

whynotwhatknot · 18/01/2024 16:53

i dont understand even if the nrtwork dont want to carry on just do one finale to tie up loose ends

Also disappointed about Lockwood but really annoyed about Frayed, which ended on a cliffhanger. The Chair was another good show cancelled. Like another poster I am not watching new shows until they’ve finished to avoid the disappointment.

Froodwithatowel · 18/01/2024 17:09

Britannia.

Mad as a box of frogs, great cast, abandoned in the middle of the story.

Oh yes, I loved that one, and really want to know if Davey divorces Annette and they get together!

Me too! Poor Annette and her boring packed lunches!

Shannith · 18/01/2024 14:28

Whatttttt? I did not know that. Now I'm mad.

I had a very inappropriate crush on Lockwood - made watching it with 12 YO DD (dame crush) hilarious.

He should be the new doctor (after this one).

Ahem. Ditto. I knew it had been cancelled though, but FGS, WHY!

There are the books though, I am going to resort to those.

Forthwith · 18/01/2024 19:10

YY to Holby. It was my comfort viewing. So much better than Casualty, which is still creaking on.

True, true. Our Flag Means Death has one hell of a cliffhanger at the end of season 1, but not so much at the end of season 2. The thing is, the creator said right from the start that he had a 3-season arc planned, so we KNOW the nice neat finish to the story is out there! It feels like we might be getting somewhere though, there are plenty of articles coming out about all the fandom noise...

Here's the link to the petition again, because I know MNers like to help each other out ❤

Julia 🥲 only found out today that there won’t be a third season. Gutted.

HardHeartedHarbingerofHaggis · 18/01/2024 23:56

Yes to Flashforward... Still.annoyed about that. I don't tend to watch shows as they come out any more, usually watch once a few series in. Good for binge watching and also knowing the plug isn't going to be pulled!

Oh my god! DH and I loved Tru Calling. Had completely forgotten about it. Think we have it on dvd somewhere.

Snow piercer...series four is made...and netflicks or warner brothers didn't show it.
So it now sits in the can....
It had huge fan base and it's so annoying that it is already made and yet we can't watch it

Yes!!! It's made, somebody just needs to buy and show it. I'm so bloody annoyed, I want to see how it ends

Robbiesraft · 19/01/2024 00:39

Robot Wars. Bring it back please! My whole family loved it.

I loved The Coroner too . Really enjoyed it when I was on Maternity leave.

RootVegAndMash · 19/01/2024 01:07

Colony. Absolutely bloody tamping. Ended on a massive cliffhanger after 3 seasons.

Also flashforward.

From a long while ago, BBC 'The Hour' with Romola Garai, Ben Whishaw & Dominic West, set in a 1950s new TV newsroom, but with a mystery element to it.

It was so good. It ended after the second season on a cliffhanger. A huge cliffhanger.

A decade later, I'm still bitter.

Netflix cancelling shows half way through the story arc is really annoying. It shouldn't be allowed 😀 they should have to have a way to tie up a series if that happens.

Snowpiercer (and yes there is a season 4 made), Designated Survivor, Grand Army are 3 in particular I mourn.

GrandHighPoohbah · 19/01/2024 03:34

I still miss Spooks and Hustle. Also Party Animals which got cancelled after only one series.
