Anyone watching this ? I'm amazed how people claim a healthy diet and then their shopping trolley is full of crap.

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 16/01/2024 13:08

I do like him, but surely they see the tv cameras in the store ( which is always Asda) and know his there ?
I admit my own diet isn't wonderful , but all that fizzy people drink amazes me.
He is a good advert for his own Keto diet as he looks great

Carriemac · 16/01/2024 19:47

I thought that , they must know they are being filmed

platinumplus · 16/01/2024 19:48

Yes there was a camera clipped onto their trolley so they must have known they were being filmed

Meredusoleil · 16/01/2024 19:52

I watched this. What I didn't get is how the man's farts registered on the machine at exactly 100 every time?!?

HangingOnJustAbout · 16/01/2024 19:58

I'll go and look for this, I'm fascinated by the farting machine?!

I think people try to follow the main government advice on watching calories, low fat, low sugar, etc. So nothing wrong with 2l of Pepsi max, it ticks every box.

The government has known for years this is complete tosh but don't want to upset the food industries. There'll be a huge lawsuit at some point.

I watched a panorama last night on those slimming injections, apparently that's our way out of this mess!

Oblomov23 · 16/01/2024 20:11

Is it on now? Which channel please?

Meredusoleil · 16/01/2024 20:16

It was on last night. 8-9pm on Ch4 I think.

LaPalmaLlama · 16/01/2024 20:30

I think there is a lot of cognitive dissonance re diet. I am as guilty as anyone. Although my meals are pretty good, i have memory loss re snacks and booze.

The Tesco clubcard aisle of crap is my downfall.

Sarvanga38 · 16/01/2024 20:38

I can’t resist these programmes, so I’m watching it, but I’m amazed MM is doing such a rip-off lightweight programme.

HangingOnJustAbout · 16/01/2024 21:38

I'm afraid MM has sold out somewhat. Have you seen his meal replacement shakes? I thought it was a FB fake ad but it's real. Pure UPF.

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 16/01/2024 22:49

MM is way better than this show. I couldn’t watch more than about five minutes.

Sarvanga38 · 17/01/2024 10:49

It really is bizarre to see him popping up on supermarket checkouts, grinning inanely like Gregg Wallace or the other bloke.

the80sweregreat · 17/01/2024 12:09

I used to like Gillian Mckeefe on channel four many years ago now ' you are what you eat'
She would give them a withering look and show them mountains of food that they all ate in a month with the kind of disdain you give mud on your best boots!
Then show them the Gillian way !
She was a pita on ' im a celeb' , but so good at making people think about their diets and whatever

Strugglingtodomybest · 18/01/2024 13:24

I've just watched episode 1. I want to know if the couple kept up with the new diet, I really hope they did!

I also loved You Are What You Eat, I've got the cookbook. It was hilarious when she used to investigate their poo 💩

EffieGraysDisappointingWeddingNight · 18/01/2024 13:27

MM must have made ££££££ in the last decade or so with his many 5:2 related diet and lifestyle books.

VaddaABeetch · 18/01/2024 18:51

It’s just a rehash of secret eaters?

I only eat organic legumes, vegetables & occasional wild Atlantic salmon.

look in trolley, oh look a load of sugery processed rubbish.

stop eating that & you’ll feel better.

the80sweregreat · 18/01/2024 20:28

MM and his wife seem really nice people though
We bought his keto diet book last year and I did feel so much better cutting out the carbs
It's hard to do , but the recipes are fairly easy to follow and can be adapted etc
I miss bread too much though to stick with it long term. No will power

akissbeforebed · 18/01/2024 20:36

I think 100 was the maximum it registered.

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/01/2024 20:47

I've lost a lot of respect for Michael Mosley. Every year he claims to have THE definitive medical advice, only to produce different definitive advice the next year, each time accompanied by books, tv, etc
Instead of working with a nutritionist or chef for the recipes, it's all done by his wife so yet more money and the shakes go against all healthy eating advice.
This programme, to me, is just more proof of him selling out and chasing the money

Copen · 19/01/2024 06:47

I just read this entire thread as Michael McIntyre, was picturing him at the checkouts etc. Michael Mosley...that makes a lot more sense!

Justleaveitblankthen · 19/01/2024 06:56

It's so low rent, contrived and a complete rip off of the other show with the inane Greg Wallace.

I enjoy his podcasts when I'm driving though.
He did some new year specials with experts in the diet, excercise and health fields.
Worth a listen on BBC sounds.

the80sweregreat · 19/01/2024 08:05

Michael McIntyre would make it more amusing !

platinumplus · 19/01/2024 08:20

TBF it did have a McIntyre vibe

NewYearTimeToChange · 19/01/2024 08:25

I quite like Michael Moseley, he seems to practice what he preaches and is all about living healthier longer rather than appearance and there’s no getting away from the fact that diet is critical.
his one little thing podcast is also really good and has some interesting things to try.

Goatymum · 19/01/2024 08:25

It’s a shame if MM has sold out as I really like him, but agree this is a rip off of the Bbc1 prog.
Even Tim Spector has revised his advice in the wake of new research, etc, but he’d never promote upf. Him and Chris VT are my go-tos!
