Now fully at Live TV pace.

Will it be a traitor in the kitchen with a poisoned chalice?

Also love The Traitors because it’s a show my young adult son and I can talk about. I watch it live (#old gimmer) and he binges it.

SpttyMaldoon · 17/01/2024 14:04

@WriterOfWrongs , oh, I would definitely not post any spoilers!

I’ll have to wait patiently it seems…

WriterOfWrongs · 17/01/2024 14:17

Yay @SpttyMaldoon we wont have to banish you then Grin

When do episodes get released? Do they drop one on iplayer on wed/Thursday/Friday or do they put all 3 every Wednesday?

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 17/01/2024 14:20

@Violahastings the first week they released all 3 episodes at once. Last week they were released daily (W,T,F) at the same time they were aired

@SpttyMaldoon

I don’t know the answer to your Q, I don’t think it’s much before 9pm.

If you watch it on the released iPlayer version (rather than Live via iPlayer), even at 9pm, please don’t post anything on here until those watching live have seen that part. It won’t run to the same timing as the live version. We had this issue last week Wink

I solve that issue by not looking at the thread until the programme has finished.

Also hoping Diane stays! Maybe by taking too long to have a sip and missing the midnight deadline? Or by pouring it into her own glass (I wouldn’t want to drink from an old chalice as it would give the wine a metallic taste)?

I think it was established upthread that there wasn't a deadline as such. If it's meant to be similar to a poisoned chalice, then the wine would still be poisoned if it was poured into another glass, so it seems to me the only way she would escape would be by not drinking at all.

If they failed, I wonder if any penalty is exerted on the traitors? Perhaps one of them becomes the victim?

@lemonsaretheonlyfruit@periodiclabel imagine if they knew you MN’d about it too 🤣🤣

Edited

Whole point is I HAVE to MN because none of my friends are watching. Dh is now away and only one dc still at home who watches on catch-up. Couldn't bear it without you lot. :)

Stowickthevast · 17/01/2024 15:08

DH booked tickets for a comedy show tonight ages ago so I have to go to that rather than watch Traitors. I'm going to have to not look at my phone until I catch up aren't I?

Hoping we'll not be back late and I can catch up either tonight or before work tomorrow!

I'm too invested.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 17/01/2024 15:14

Yes thank goodness for this thread. I am trying to convert as many friends as possible so we can discuss IRL too. I think I have persuaded 3 so far...

placemats · 17/01/2024 18:08

My big sister and I are watching it. Sometimes she waits until Friday to catch up and binge, so Saturday is full on conversation about it. So sadly I will not be talking to her tonight, unless she starts the conversation first.

SpttyMaldoon · 17/01/2024 18:22

There’s a theory about the significance of the book Othello and last week’s task.

if i post it, would it be considered a spoiler?

don’t want to spoil it for those that like to be fully surprised, also this is just a theory, it could obviously be totally wrong and just people overthinking it.

Hi, can I join in? I found this interesting. Worth a read. I am fully on board for tonight's big reveal. However, I do love reading these threads. Who is my favourite to win? Not telling!

I enjoyed that article, thanks for posting. It puts into words an unease I have had about the dominant men in this series, and that more women than men have been murdered. Obviously there are exceptions - Diane seems more dominant- and I still love watching it, but it really makes me want Paul to get his comeuppance, and the quiet, watchful women to win.

Paddingtonthebear · 17/01/2024 18:37

I think someone already shared that theory

Thanks, I only just saw it on Reddit, I must have missed it upthread.

Paddingtonthebear · 17/01/2024 18:57

May have been on the other thread but I definitely saw it on Mumsnet somewhere!

LindorDoubleChoc · 17/01/2024 19:11

Place marking. I found thread 2 long after everyone migrated. Was there even a link in thread 1? Hrmph.

martinisforeveryone · 17/01/2024 19:14

I've watched series 1, series 1 of the USA and also the Australian one and I can tell you that women do far better than men in those.

I've also read, but can't remember where, that when Diane was interviewed she absolutely refused to play the role of Traitor. I think like Amos in the first series. He's a doctor and said he couldn't play Traitor because he wanted his patients to always feel they could trust him.

lljkk · 17/01/2024 19:17

ah nuts, under MN thread descends into gender-hate-fueled conspiracy theories. Pah boo.

I know everyone's moved on and we're all looking forward to Diane taking a sip from the poisoned chalice, but may I just say I REALLY think this is a bunch of awful numpties because of what they did to Johnny. I just can't like any of them now.

I know it's not about who is popular, and I know everyone's in it to win it, but the herd mentality thing is doing my head in. There's something wrong with the format I think - if someone semi-convincingly accuses a harmless person at the round table (by harmless I mean not a controversial or stand-out personality) then the majority of the rest of them will just vote for that person in a "well I don't really think it's them but at least no-one's accusing me and it looks like it will be easy to get him/her out".

Another flaw in the format is that the people who really suspect Paul are now too scared to stick with that accusation because they are afraid they will be voted out by others in revenge.

In some ways it's not really working for me. Still gripped though!

MeinKraft · 17/01/2024 20:01

Anthony was really fun and nice on Traitors uncloaked (just watching it now) I don't think he was comfortable or happy in the castle, he definitely wasn't his true self that we saw.
