It's back! Sunday 19:45... get your handkerchiefs at the ready for Keith!

I love Keith telling Princess at the end what a talented potter she is. And she is, it’s just that the winner is usually someone who is not only good at throwing but is creative and generally creates magic from clay and glaze.

I think she makes things I’d like to use, rather than look at iyswim.

Just caught up and just found this thread - and been for a wee! I liked Stevens and Donnas but he won the challenge and they do seem to be taking that into account this series - which doesn't bode well for Jan as she often seems to be low or last - I liked her water feature. I thought Princess was right to go this week, as well as the cracks her decoration was dull and flat.

RunningFromInsanity · 06/02/2024 15:08

I thought Sophie’s fairy house was stunning, can’t believe the judges didn’t agree.
Jans was also very pretty.

Emotionalsupportviper · 06/02/2024 16:44

Agree running

It was lovely.

So was the snake cascade.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2024 17:16

I thought maybe the decoration on Sophie's didn't match up to the expectation. It could maybe have been a little more magical? I can't remember now - I do remember feeling a little disappointed in it.

The snake itself was amazing on Donna's. For me, the rest maybe let it down. Not "let it down" actually, more just missing something? She's clearly still a certainty for the final (unless she manages to pull off a monumental fuck up one week!)

Didn’t they say the rest of Sophie’s decoration didn’t live up to the pointy hat on the top? Or the pointy hat lacked depth? Either way, it was something to to with that pointy hat Grin I thought the darkness of it didn’t match the rest of the decoration. But it was still my favourite next to Donna’s snake.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2024 19:47

I think they liked the glaze on the pointy bit

I find Sophie’s stuff a bit twee.

AnImaginaryCat · 06/02/2024 22:52

I liked Jan's the best.

Not sure what I felt about the mossy winner. Whilst I really likes the blue inside the outside was weirdly messy and structured. Might have preferred it if the bowls hadn't have been so aligned.

CurlewKate · 07/02/2024 10:34

Just read that at the beginning of his career Keith hand threw 600 to 800 mugs a day....

Yes I agree. I liked the cobalt blue inside and liked the mushrooms but didn't really like the "mossy" exterior. I really liked the "snake" fountain - Donna's?

I do think the right person went this week - loved what Keith said to Princess when she was leaving. What a lovely kind person he is. 🌹

HeadNorth · 07/02/2024 15:35

I think I liked Jan's the best - it is a shame the challenges let her down. Donna's snake was also good and the one with the slugs. I can see why they went for the mossy one - the texture was clever and the use of oxides. But I would rather own Jan's Smile

I think Princess was right to go - the fact she had such tall inner columns that weren't decorated at all really let hers down. Sophie's was a bit the same, but not as bad, I don't think the columns stood out as much. It was sad because she is so talented. Like everyone else, I really enjoy how supportive and positive the judges are - they always try and find the positives and criticise constructively, it really adds to the enjoyment.

Anyone here??

RunningFromInsanity · 11/02/2024 19:52

Here!

Piggywaspushed · 11/02/2024 19:55

Hooray.

I like teapot week.

LaChatte · 11/02/2024 19:56

Here!

RunningFromInsanity · 11/02/2024 19:57

I’d do a watering can teapot with a little frog on the top. Then the mugs will be plant pots.

Piggywaspushed · 11/02/2024 19:58

I'm not altogether sure why anyone would want to drink tea from octopi.

Love that idea!

I would buy those to add to my collection of teapots. Cadi's is the only one I like so far.

LaChatte · 11/02/2024 20:07

Some of those look waaaaay to heavy to be functional!

LaChatte · 11/02/2024 20:13

Big huge pile of nope!

HeadNorth · 11/02/2024 20:35

I like the look of Steven’s - not sure about the octopi

Piggywaspushed · 11/02/2024 20:39

Mild bumps Grin

Piggywaspushed · 11/02/2024 20:40

Would you just never wash Donna's?
