I've just finished watching this and enjoyed it a lot depsite some huge plot holes.

I don't understand something though and wondered if I'd missed something which would explain it. How did the nanny & her boyfriend (or how did Judith) know about the camera in the picture frame? Maya told the nanny about it AFTER seeing Joe on the video on the SD card. Was Eva somehow involved in the setting up of Maya? Maybe all this was explained, if so, I missed it!

My questions for anyone who has read the book are around the ending with Shane at the hospital with Lily...it seems like he is the father then he's sat in the bed with Lily and she says 'WE are calling her Maya' like it's their baby...there's no other man in the room that I can see apart from Kierce and Eddie.
Also, Eddie was 'involved' in her up bringing we are told, but who actually brought her up as the main caregiver? Shane?

In the book Eddie raised Lily. Shane stuck around (as requested by Maya) as a sort of godfather.

He's not in the bed with her is he? That's her partner and Shane is in the chair next to them?

Fun fact - Michelle Keegan’s brother is the Deputy Head Teacher at my child’s high school. She has done some drama/acting sessions there with the students. Brassic has been filmed just around the corner as well.

Another fun fact. MK's brother attended the uni I work at and came to his graduation. She was very unstarry and mingled with everyone else. She was also very slim, almost doll like.

thaegumathteth · 06/01/2024 20:31

Caroline deliberately misled Maya about the bribe money and about not seeing the dead bodies etc to make her doubt everything - Judith made her.

FuckOffTom · 06/01/2024 22:45

I’m gonna have to watch it all again. I’ve got a headache.

eish · 07/01/2024 10:14

So glad I found this and it wasn’t just me. It irritated me as i felt they were so sloppy with their plot holes (all mentioned above). In particular as she shot Joe, she already knew they were shot by the same gun. It is like reading a Dan Brown, they take us for stupid which really riles me. I thought MK was good though!

MuggleMe · 07/01/2024 23:24

I was annoyed that a photo frame could simultaneously have an SD card and the footage is gone forever, and WiFi access that someone could hack and that she didn't know about or set up when she received it. And yes to everyone investigating/accusing people rather than going to the police.

StartupRepair · 07/01/2024 23:27

After she shot Joe did she just take the gun home in her pocket? Surely the police would have searched her at the scene? They were also a bit hopeless waiting so long to view cctv footage of the guys on bikes.Could have wrapped it up in one episode with the identification from Rambo.

I was also confused by Shane and why he was hanging around menacingly outside her house at night. Confused

Same!

Omg so true as someone said above about why was the whole series based on her finding out her sisters killer when she knew who it was?? What happened to the football coach guy? He was involved to throw us I think, I know it was his sons blood in the van but oh god knows

I think, though may be wrong, that it wasn't about trying to find who killed her sister, but more about who was messing with her head with the nannycam, finding more about what her sister knew and why he killed her, and also trying to find out how to bring her husband's family down so that if she went to jail, they wouldn't bring up her daughter. Still don't get why she didn't just tell the police her husband killed her sister and hand over gun as evidence. The fingerprint tech must have left a digital trail that could be tied back to him.

MooFroo · 08/01/2024 00:13

I binge watched it but way too many plot holes for me, and could have been a lot shorter!
she was awful as a mother, daughter left anywhere and everywhere! Where was the child while mum and dad walked in the park at 9pm on murder day?

good overall but could have been better
finished

She didn't deny knowing this, though?

littlefireseverywhere · 08/01/2024 02:19

I thought MK and JL were great in it. But totally agree could’ve been 4 episodes rather than 8 and the plot holes…

Katrina7291 · 08/01/2024 06:10

He’s on a the bed with her when the detective first walks in

Oppositioblue · 08/01/2024 06:54

I’ve not read the book. It did have potential to be really good but 8 episodes was far too long. Too many plot holes all the way back to the beginning with the same question over how did Judith know about the nanny cam.

The father was sat on the bed next to Lily.

I also wondered how the nanny knew about the camera in the photo frame. It was all a bit over the top really.

bananamangoes · 05/01/2024 18:48

Why didn't she just keep quiet about everything, enjoy her life as a rich widow and keep a low profile forever!

🤣

Agreed, in that lovely house.

Have you noticed in all these Coben Netflix sagas there are huge kitchens with panoramic windows overlooking vast lush gardens. Why do none of these people live in pokey normal houses?

peppapigpeppa · 08/01/2024 07:08

Yes the houses are all huge and they all have bi fold doors.

In some of the previous series, there's no way the characters would be able to afford the houses, based on their supposed careers

AgentProvocateur · 08/01/2024 07:34

I’ve just finished the book. The nanny knew about the nanny cam, because she said (I’m paraphrasing) that Maya had no photos of her daughter in the house and didn’t even hang her nursery paintings up, so when she suddenly appeared with a digital photo frame the day after her husband gets murdered, she guessed it was a nanny cam.

AgentProvocateur · 08/01/2024 07:36

@bearfood Eddie brought the daughter up, with Shane as godfather. Eddie remarried after 10 years and Lily married a man in the military.

Radyward · 08/01/2024 07:43

I thought it rubbish.
MK cant act for buttons.
I fast forwarded ep 6 and half of ep 7 to hurry it up a bit. Too many plots running at the same time
It was so slow . H Coben is totally over rated . Dont know how its No 1 on NF

tennissquare · 08/01/2024 07:57

MK has posted on insta today that it is No 1 in the world on NF and more than 60 countries!

fatphalange · 08/01/2024 09:21

I felt it was good and at the end I was satisfied it all tied up nicely.
But now I've sat and thought about it, a) it irks me that they left out the bit where Maya's friend was brought in to do he family's dirty work by giving her the gift of the photo frame (why else was she all apologetic about it? And this had to have happened if it was planned by the family), and most importantly: b) the whole carry on was absolutely pointless as Maya already knew who had done it, herself ffs🤣 yes it could be explained that she wanted to know more about the motive of her sister's murder (although this must have been already quite clear for her to have led her to believe/know her husband killed her), but the plot of the mystery was clearly presented to us as a 'whodunnit' and 'could the husband still be alive?ooooh' when all along Maya knew the he couldn't possibly be alive as she knew damn straight that she had bloody well offed him! It's not like she even 'discovered' that she was actually the killer, in a split personality disorder type scenario and 'rediscovered' that the motive for this was because the husband had killed her sister which she had then mentally blocked out/the personality that knew all this was dormant....she just already knew it all along!
Rant over.
