The Masked Singer Returns : who's that beneath the mask?

Could it be David Tennant? Is it eventually Sheridan Smith?? What ridiculous - and possibly even dead- celebrities will the panel name this series? What completely obscure clues will lead us to guess it's Beyonce , and end up being the really obscure one off the Sugababes' 18th line up?

Come and join in the clue guessing.

Watching on catch up. Going to suggest Martell Maxwell off of Homes Under the Hammer for Rat.

I'd be surprised if she were famous enough for them. People always mock the judges for guessing celebrities who are too famous: no it's not Beyoncé. But the show falls apart if too many viewers (in the target audience) say "Who?" when the mask comes off, and they know that, so they do generally get a good level of UK fame.

The place they sometimes fall down is when they hire B/C list talent from US TV. The MS producers are steeped in this stuff, so they're naturally impressed by yer man from Desperate Housewives/Stranger Things/Glee but they forget that the UK viewing public are generally ignorant of US telly and will be much more impressed by Denise Van Outen than the sister from Succession.

Yes, I await the Glee alumni - perhaps next week?

Anyone from Glee would definitely be a “who???” from me.

Mind you, I haven’t heard of half the people Mo guesses either

Piggywaspushed · 01/01/2024 13:48

I keep thinking about Cricket and the newspaper.

Bow Tuffers Moe Wiggo

The last three make sense (although not sure exactly what connects them) if Moe is Mo Farah disguised but what's the Bow??

I never know the Gleester either!

My newest guess for Cricket btw is Andy Murray. I think all the cricket stuff is too obvious. But there was a mention of Lord's (he's Sir Andy Murray ) and Sir Mo Farah and Sir Bradley Wiggins and Andy is a 'big hitter'. There was an accent being disguised , and there was all the limping and back clutching. But I imagine he has been a bit busy.

I need to catch up, had to go out Saturday evening and missed it 😢

Piggywaspushed · 01/01/2024 13:58

What is this 'going out' of which you speak??

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 01/01/2024 14:00

I wasn't out out Grin

That’s a really good guess. How old are his kids now - old enough to be entertained / mortified by the idea of their dad dressing up as a giant insect?

Piggywaspushed · 01/01/2024 14:04

Yes, and he is definitely game for a laugh. But he is definitely still playing (or trying to).

nickdrakeslovechild · 01/01/2024 14:31

I think Cricket is Graham Swann, he's up for a laugh and used to sing in a band.

Piggywaspushed · 01/01/2024 14:44

Has he not done it? Probably imagining it.

The scores on the scoreboard looked more like tennis scores tbh.

Sarah beaney's chap?

burnoutbabe · 01/01/2024 14:47

Sarah beaney's chap?

No he's an ex England cricketer who retired a few years ago. He did Strictly in 2019.

Piggywaspushed · 01/01/2024 14:51

Umm, no. Graeme Swann is a cricketer...

OP posts:
burnoutbabe · 01/01/2024 15:22

Haha

I've never heard of him. That's the issue with sports people below say Jill Scott or Andy Murray, often very obscure (same as that's mp who was on it when it first started!)

Twonewcats · 01/01/2024 16:08

I don't think cricket would be a cricketer though??
Maybe someone who's eaten them in the jungle

Piggywaspushed · 01/01/2024 16:29

I thought so too but there were loads of bowling clues.

I'd say Graeme Swann's fame is at about the level of most of the sportspeople they've had on tbh, given he's done Strictly.

But I don't think it's him.

TBF with the average relevance of clues on there that may be someone who had a bowling party for their birthday in 1987.

Didn't someone say Dua Lipa for Maypole? She did a tennis ad with Emma raducanu

TinselAngel · 02/01/2024 12:58

Well I have no idea what Dua Lipa sounds likeBlush
