I gave up watching 30 mins in tonight and I've deleted from the planner. Goodnight Corrie. It was nice knowing you.

Itham · 27/12/2023 22:08

I'm struggling to remember Rob.

His son's rather lairy...... not sure about any of this.

goMe46 · 27/12/2023 22:56

Did he kill Tina?(Rob..)

MichaelAndEagle · 27/12/2023 22:58

I can't even remember if I watched to the end.
There was an upsetting scenes warning again though, what was that for?

Helendegenerate · 28/12/2023 00:36

They keep warning us of upsetting scenes purely to try and increase the ratings. It was never necessary in earlier years.

Yes that new character now ensconced on Carla's sofa, he looked familiar. Jack Carroll the young comedian who won a talent show some years ago. He's very cheeky.

Both Billy and Paul fancy the new therapist. Uh oh 😝

Psychoticbreak · 28/12/2023 07:45

ANyone else sick to the back teeth of the reference to Paul and Billys sex life? We get it they are gay and love their brokeback moments but we didnt even hear this much of Sally and Tims escapades and at least theirs were funny.

AutumnCrow · 28/12/2023 09:05

Yeah, there's too much brokeback archdeacon, and too much of Gemma talking with her foghorn gob. The Peter and Carla story is nuts, and so is 'Bobby' turning up to do his not hilarious routine from Carla's sofa. He's about as funny as Colin from the Fast Show.

Why does Claire Sweeney have such a weird face in Corrie when she doesn't in anything else? Is it painted on for her role as Cassie? It's around her eyes mostly - they look part-alien.

Jitterybugs · 28/12/2023 09:19

Carla’s surprise nephew might grow on us but last night I found him to be an irritating shit. Yet another unbelievable storyline shoe horned in to the mix.

Cassie looks like she’s jealous of Abi and Kevin’s relationship. She didn’t look happy at their embrace in the garage. Are we heading for more scheming and bad behaviour from her?

toolates · 28/12/2023 10:02

Please stop the Brokeback comments. It makes you come across as middle aged homophobes. Not cool.

Itham · 28/12/2023 10:24

Not sure why Corrie has turned into 'Carry On Vicar'.

Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

FreeAdamsApples · 28/12/2023 10:45

How bad the whole episode was. It has gone far beyond the bottom of the barrel.

Is it a warning about people crying? Is that 'distress' now?

FreeAdamsApples · 28/12/2023 12:25

AutumnCrow · 28/12/2023 11:34

Is it a warning about people crying? Is that 'distress' now?

Someone's bound to take to Twitter with a film of themselves crying in their car if so much as a sprout is dropped from the Christmas table in whichever household they are all gathered, so they take the easy arse covering option of preparing us for our potential sprout based distress by giving us a warning.

These warnings happen so often now they have become meaningless, which is no help to anyone.

LizzieFromTheForest · 28/12/2023 12:45

Corrie has completely lost the plot. I feel embarrassed for the actors. This new nephew of Carla's is a cringeworthy, awful storyline.

I bet Alison King is actually really cringing and embarrassed to be part of such a stupid storyline as a random nephew turning up who she's never ever heard of - and him being allowed to move in.

The very idea that anybody would let some bloke in claiming to be their nephew (who they have never heard of!) and come and live with them, is absolutely ridiculous.

I am also sick to death of random people turning up, who we've never heard of - and turning out to be long lost relatives who have never been mentioned before. And why did they suddenly decide Margi Clark who was Tyrone's mum in the 1990s, was not his mum after all - but his aunt or something? (And Claire Sweeney is his REAL mum WTAF?) No-one mentioned Margi not being his real mum in the 1990s when Tyrone came into Corrie.

Then you have Eva - Tyrone's nan : Nina - Roy's niece. And also Summer suddenly turned up as a daughter of some ex boyfriend of Billy's. Long lost relatives never mentioned before... I am sure there are more. Daisy came into Jenny's life after being her ex's daughter that had never been mentioned before. Simon suddenly turned up in Peter's life after his mum conveniently died. There's just so many ridiculous storylines. I really feel like Corrie's lost it now. As I said, I'm embarrassed for the actors now.

As a pp said, Rob Donavon DID kill Tina McIntyre. Funny how no-one is mentioning this in the show right now!

I am also SICK of the 'there are scenes that some people might be distressed by' warning. There is NEVER anything. WTF?!

charabang · 28/12/2023 12:54

I think Carla's nephew is a welcome addition to the cast. I enjoyed it when he was in Superstore and he has a very cheeky edge. Just a shame he's with Carla, Queen of Bland. I've had enough of the Billy and Paul saga too; a conclusion can't come quick enough for me.

theconfidenceofwho · 28/12/2023 12:55

@LizzieFromTheForest didn't Rob kill Tina as she was having an affair with Peter? I've a vague recollection of Peter cheating on Carla on their wedding day with Tina.

I did like Rob though!

Itham · 28/12/2023 12:57

TBF, I think the 'distress' warnings are valid if this thread is anything to go by.

Ooooh, crikey, I can't remember that. I have many recollections of past Corries and have seen Classic Corrie - from 1987 up to 2004 where it is now (for the past 5-6 years or so on ITV3.) But I can't recall why he killed her now. As I say though, it's funny that no-one is mentioning Rob is a murderer. Did they ever find out though? Shock

Helendegenerate · 28/12/2023 13:52

Even though they managed it in years gone by the soaps don't seem able to survive without regular murders etc. I don't know if there's a single family in Corrie which has not had a heavy dose of killings and killers. Too many relationships which seem confined to using the same families and just a heavy dose of swapping wives/husbands etc. It's bordering on the incestuous at times. It seems that way if you dissect a good few relationship tangles over the decades. 😕

FreeAdamsApples · 28/12/2023 14:21

Even though they managed it in years gone by the soaps don't seem able to survive without regular murders etc.

When you think about it, most of our dramas in normal life involve the cat ripping the curtains or the plumber not turning up when he says he will so you need to find someone to do the thing you're booked to do while you still wait in. That's obviously not interesting enough for today's audience so they have to make every event in the soaps as dramatic as possible but it's having the opposite effect of what they're hoping for.

The thing that distresses me most about Corrie just now is Billy pawing at Paul, it makes me very uncomfortable.

Rob knew about the affair but he killed her because she threatened to reveal his and Traceys dodgy dealings.

I too am a bit bored of Billy Prayerhands and the Gruffalos romping but I was bored of Sally and Tim's Carry on romps and innuendo as well.
That's not homophobic but using Middle aged" as an insult is most certainly ageist.

Getupat8amnow · 28/12/2023 15:11

I have Corrie on but I don’t watch it anymore, I am usually using my iPad. It doesn’t hold my attention at all. It has really lost its way completely.

FeltCarrot · 28/12/2023 15:55

SwankyPants · 27/12/2023 21:42

Two new characters, one black and one disabled. So bloody patronising.

I agree. Someone at Coronation Street has a tick sheet of “minorities” that they have to fulfill.
We’ve had gay, lesbian, transgender, wheelchair user, dying, deaf, refugee…

I wonder who we will have next…

I'm the same, like background

What were his dodgy dealings with Tracey? I don't remember that @Infusedwithfigandhoney
