Nigel leaving Strictly ...

Is there more to this? For some reason I'm not buying this. He injured his foot earlier on in the week, now it's his rib.

Katya clinging on to him for dear life in the end interview, totally beside herself and over emotional.

Also, the way he has talking about her, makes me feel that strong feelings are involved.

Thought please?

The general consensus with Amanda is that she wasn't very well-liked by the production team, and that she and Gio didn't get along at all. That, combined with her not handling the social media scrutiny very well, led to her leaving. There was also a rumour that her husband is quite controlling and didn't like her doing the show (more due to the pressure than anything else) and encouraged her to quit. But that's entirely unverified.

That makes sense actually. Not that I’ve seen the programme. But laughing, coughing, sneezing etc can be very painful with that kind of injury so you try and surpress them and they come out odd as a result.

He mentioned the stong painkillers he's clearly high as a kite. At one point katyia taps his side and he winced. Katiya crying is normal she is very competitive and seems emotional in character.

It was cruel to put him on the show

Fair point! I guess what I mean is that it’s a rumour doing the rounds, but I haven’t heard it from any verified source, so I wouldn’t put it in the same category as the other theory. But I have heard it on multiple occasions so it’s possible that it is true.

The dance world is extremely tactile and fawn-y, that's just how pro dancers behave. It doesn't indicate romance and affairs. We go through this every year! Katya and Nigel are just like loads of other couples on Strictly and in professional shows elsewhere.

Hugely patronising and insulting to both Nigel and his wife to suggest she has "stepped in", particularly given she is a professional actress and presumably knows how these things are very well herself. If you've ever seen anyone high on painkillers you'd know he was a textbook case.

I genuinely think most of the Mail is utter shite.

You're not alone in thinking that.

It may have been that paper which once printed a pack of lies 'story' about my friend accompanied by a photo of them looking terse and annoyed. It was supposed to support the paper's insinuations that something was seriously amiss in their relationship, but the photo they used wasn't recent. It had been taken more than two years earlier. They'd obviously trawled through many hundreds of pics they had on file, until they found one with the right facial expression to fit the 'story'.

The Mail is just full of hatred and spite, it isn’t news in any way. It’s a hate rag. All the talk of women ‘flaunting their curves’ is so misogynistic. They love to publish photos of women in unflattering poses and then be spiteful in a ‘oh look at that woman looking a mess, how dare she’ way. It’s a horrible, horrible rag. It reports on people behaving like they’re in the gutter with glee. Anyone who reads it is fuelling the hate machine.

I'm assuming she meant the Chorus Line number rather than the My Fair Lady one. I wouldn't say the dance was porny, (although you can read subtext into the plot if you're so inclined) but Karen's leotard was unusually low-cut.

DH and I were saying the other day that the way they were behaving was as sooooo disrespectful to his poor wife. It’s one thing to dance close together and become close friends but those two were constantly pawing at each other, gazing like lovestruck teenagers and fawning…he never managed to mention his wife or thank her for her support while he was trilling that Katya is ‘a part of him forever’…wtf? You don’t have to have a physical affair to shit all over your marriage, imagine the humiliation of your spouse acting like that with another person on live TV!!! Call me old fashioned but it’s gross and so utterly disrespectful.

I honestly think some posters should stop watching Strictly. it's light entertainment Saturday night TV to enjoy if it's too "porny" and .angsty and over emotional just switch it off.

Never seen Nigel in anything other than Downton Abbey and I was ready to dislike him on Strictly, but I've really enjoyed watching him with Katya.

I've not seen her this sparkly for a long time.
