Is there more to this? For some reason I'm not buying this. He injured his foot earlier on in the week, now it's his rib. Katya clinging on to him for dear life in the end interview, totally beside herself and over emotional. Also, the way he has talking about her, makes me feel that strong feelings are involved. Thought please?

They are always ridiculously OTT on Strictly about their professional partner, how it's changed their lives, friends for life, yada yada.

You can't seriously be suggesting that he didn't fall? In front of other people, and that he went to hospital and presumably has an x ray showing the damage too?

When I was on opoid painkillers I laughed hysterically at all the cartoons in the New Yorker, and a couple of days later when no longer on the same level of drugs I not only looked through the same copy stony-faced, I didn't even remember doing it the first time. Giggling weirdly and saying slightly strange things both seem very believable!

And besides - history shows that no one "has to leave" Strictly because they have been having an affair - it's if it gets out. He left on Saturday, so there would have been plenty of possibility for a big splash in the Sunday papers if that were the case. Also, I reckon Katya has learned a hard lesson about partners, and she wouldn't do anything that would jeopardise her chances of a final place. To say nothing of the fact that I feel pretty sorry for Nigel having to deal with people suggesting he's cheating on his wife with no evidence!

I mean, there's 2 weeks left, and if he'd got to the semi finals he'd have got £15k. If I was her, I'd have waited a couple of weeks if I suspected he was shagging Katya, waited for the £15k and then sorted it from there. I don't think they are having an affair. I think he was off his head on meds and Katya was gutted that she lost the chance of the glitterball.

@Angrycat2768 I also find it odd how there's no update on Katya's instagram. No gushy post about how proud she is to have been paired with Nigel and how she's made a friend for life. Something doesn't sit right with me.

We shall see. All will come out in the wash.

So, she’s fishy when she’s “clinging to him for dear life” but she’s also fishy when she’s not gushing over him on social media? I suspect if she DID post on socials then that would have been a strike against her as she can clearly not do a thing without being scrutinised or judged.

DH and I were saying the other day that the way they were behaving was as sooooo disrespectful to his poor wife. It’s one thing to dance close together and become close friends but those two were constantly pawing at each other, gazing like lovestruck teenagers and fawning…he never managed to mention his wife or thank her for her support while he was trilling that Katya is ‘a part of him forever’…wtf? You don’t have to have a physical affair to shit all over your marriage, imagine the humiliation of your spouse acting like that with another person on live TV!!! Call me old fashioned but it’s gross and so utterly disrespectful.

but they all do this Angela S was all over Caros literally crying and stroking him when they were eliminated saying he will always be in her life and again on ITT Bawling and holding hands ! not a peep about them. is it just because it's Kataya?

@Mrsjayy I did think it a bit about Angela too tbh. Lots of them do it. With Katya’s very public history I do think it’s particularly disrespectful of him to act like that with her because everyone knows what people will think. But it would still be horribly inappropriate and disrespectful whoever it was. plenty of couples on strictly manage to forge a lovely friendship without acting like that - see Krishnas and Lauren, Gorka and Helen etc. For me it’s just not how you behave with anyone else once you’re married!

I haven't found Nigel and Katya any worse/different to anyone else really ... although I'm a bit sad that he's leaving.

Having cracked several ribs myself in an accident I know he must have been on heavy duty painkillers just to be able to get to the studio and even stand upright. I couldn’t even talk as I was in so much pain in the first few days and even breathing was agony. I’m siding with the he was off his face explanation.

The dance world is extremely tactile and fawn-y, that's just how pro dancers behave. It doesn't indicate romance and affairs. We go through this every year! Katya and Nigel are just like loads of other couples on Strictly and in professional shows elsewhere.

Hugely patronising and insulting to both Nigel and his wife to suggest she has "stepped in", particularly given she is a professional actress and presumably knows how these things are very well herself. If you've ever seen anyone high on painkillers you'd know he was a textbook case.

i agree they don't have to be all over each I mean they are grown ups they can stand on their own two feet with out pawing each other, but Kataya was no different to some of the others. Karen and Eddie sat apart and people were saying they didn't get on ! so damned if they do damned if they don't.

Thing that they are all glossing over is that he didn’t fall - he was dropped by the additional professional dancers. Bit awkward!

I thought he was off his face on drugs and she was pretty much holding him up. She’s over emotional as this was her come back year- after the scandal she’s had crap dancer after crap dancer, she’s grinned and shimmied around plodders, and this time she got one of the ringers. She was expecting to make the final. I’m not sure if she’s going to leave but normally they get a good one before leaving.

Katya is amazingly competitive, she's always stopped at nothing to win. I honestly think she's just gutted to have her best chance in years torn away from her in a moment with no warning.

And if you were going to fake injury then you'd do something more nebulous like a back strain rather than a fall in front of loads of witnesses and a trip to A&E.

I agree with EvilRingahBitch that Katya is very competitive. After the backlash over her public kiss with Seann Walsh, I think she has been incredibly careful to avoid 'Curse of Strictly' type criticism. I think Nigel's exit is more to do with him than anything else. For an actor, he wasn't very good at hiding his reaction to the judge's comments.

Friend of a friend is a production assistant. According to him there’s nothing dodgy going on here other than the fact that Nigel was dropped rather than fell and there’s rumours of him getting a bit of a payoff as a result. Can’t say I blame him! No affair though. In fact it took he and Katya a while to warm up to each other. Of course I have only got all this third hand, but I suspect if there was an affair they wouldn’t have been invited back to chat etc – see Amanda and Gio (not that that was an affair, but she left under a cloud).

As others have said, they all do the gushing bit. Nothing struck me about their last appearance other than Nigel clearly being off his face and Katya gutted.

The Daily Mail has decided to suggest that everyone on the production hated Nigel for being moody rather than hinting at any sort of affair. They're saving those insinuations for other couples this year.

Yes agreed. And Katya saying he was dancing for his parents and his kids. What about his poor wife??? And surely kids are going to be confused watching Nige get hot and steamy with a woman who is not their mum. It's all freaking weird and I may have to cancel my licence fee!

She's originally from Russia, her mother is Thai, and shes lived in the UK for a long time, so not surprising her accent is a bit of a mix
