Nigel leaving Strictly ...

Is there more to this? For some reason I'm not buying this. He injured his foot earlier on in the week, now it's his rib.

Katya clinging on to him for dear life in the end interview, totally beside herself and over emotional.

Also, the way he has talking about her, makes me feel that strong feelings are involved.

Thought please?

She's originally from Russia, her mother is Thai, and shes lived in the UK for a long time, so not surprising her accent is a bit of a mix

yeah bit of a mix is a better way of putting it, am being snobby there calling it strange.

Mum is Korean not Thai: possibly influenced the choice of Gangnam Style.

Neil's accent is pretty distinctive Estuary (?) English and he presumably influenced her English quite a lot so it makes for a unique mix.

I noticed he made a loud point about the male dancers not catching him so I suspect he's staking a claim! Katya has probably been instructed to keep shtum by her producers. I thought Nigel was quite odd in his erratic placing hand on rib, removing it, placing it on again. Weird.

yeah I had typed out her mum Is Korean not Thai and she grew up in Russia her wiki is a bit sketchy so nothing much before she married Neil.

I thought the awkwardness was because Katya had choreographed a routine which required Nigel to be caught and it had gone wrong. She was feeling, maybe, slightly responsible.

This. He was so obviously drugged up!

All this gossip is quite nasty really. I'm surprised anyone agrees to do Strictly.

If it's not Amanda, it's Layton and now Nigel.

Katya herself has challenged The Sun personally after they printed lies about her because shed declined to sell stories to them.

They need to be left alone.

I have a distant relative in the public eye who was rung up by one of the tabloids and asked for a story. When told 'no comment' they just said oh, that's okay, we'll just make it all up then.

Just reading that he apparently had a big row with his wife at Blackpool in front of lots of people. He stormed off and Katya was left consoling his upset wife. He doesn't sound like a very nice person.

He never said he was doing it for his wife for his daughters. He never thanked his wife. Apparently when he got a low score he stormed off and then motioned for his wife to come over and he was shouting and screaming at the wife. He’s implied a professional dropped him.

but the stand out phrase was the there’s always a piece of kat with me now comments - really nuts!

I didn’t like him and I thought with his professional training like Layton they were both very egotistical and think they themselves are brilliant. It’s like what one of the dancers on a pair out dancers the other deliberately and it just looks odd.

I feel sorry for his wife and the same with Jon waites the other strictly and Johannes saying he had fallen for him etc very disrespectful with way to their other halves

Yes those words - that Katya "will always be a part of me now" and then "I can't even look at you" as she sobs! Nuts.

Friend of a friend is a production assistant. According to him there’s nothing dodgy going on here other than the fact that Nigel was dropped rather than fell and there’s rumours of him getting a bit of a payoff as a result. Can’t say I blame him! No affair though. In fact it took he and Katya a while to warm up to each other. Of course I have only got all this third hand, but I suspect if there was an affair they wouldn’t have been invited back to chat etc – see Amanda and Gio (not that that was an affair, but she left under a cloud).

I think he genuinely just got injured and has had to go. He and Katya are just as gushy as any of the Strictly couples over the years, no more, no less. He was giggling because he was off his tits on pain meds. Likely in a little bit of shock too, and disbelief; he said it was only just starting to sink in what had happened.

The 'argument' with his wife is in the Daily Mail, so who knows how true it is? The Daily Mail likes to make crap up. It constructed a whole story about a friend of mine once, almost none of which had any truth to it at all.

It's not an easy reality show to do i bet and most actors are divas ( read any celebrity thread on mumsnet and i believe most of it about some of their behavior!) so not surprised he was upset etc etc. It's all first world problems though and I doubt he would have won anyway.
Sad for his wife if he took it out on her, but she may well be used to it :(

Btw what did happen with Amanda? I haven’t really followed Strictly properly this year.

I’ve just seen a comment elsewhere from someone who works on the show that the Daily Mail stories are utter fabrication and he’s a nice guy. Who knows whether they are who they say they are, but I genuinely think most of the Mail is utter shite.

I haven't RTFT but there's a point in the interview where he laughs and then gasps and clutches his side - he's definitely injured. Also there were loads of people watching! And he does say he's on strong painkillers, they definitely can make you giggly - codeine does that to me. (Lovely stuff - I don't take it as it's too nice!)

That said, they are all over each other and I wouldn't be very happy about it if it were my partner. Katya's very touchy feely and I guess if you're with someone like that all the time it makes you the same, but it was a bit much. Also Katya not mentioning his wife, but saying he was doing it for his kids and parents! 😬 I really hope nothing has been going on, but I equally wouldn't be very surprised.

The general consensus with Amanda is that she wasn't very well-liked by the production team, and that she and Gio didn't get along at all. That, combined with her not handling the social media scrutiny very well, led to her leaving. There was also a rumour that her husband is quite controlling and didn't like her doing the show (more due to the pressure than anything else) and encouraged her to quit. But that's entirely unverified.

I don't think it matters if they're having an affair or not, the whole display was totally nauseating. If my husband behaved like that on a tv show with another woman I would be mortified. Even if they aren't shagging, that behaviour alone is unforgivable in my view. Maybe his wife is more accommodating than me, who knows
