Surprised they haven't gone more camp/show-tuney for Angela R. I think it'll be nice though; but they'll have to ladle on the extra dancers, props etc to have enough impact for Blackpool.

Looking forward to Angela S. Her Irish dancing will stand her in good stead, IF she can breathe, relax and get the intimacy not that that stopped Layton being overmarked for his AT

Annabel could potentially be knockout if they tap into emotion the way they proved they could do for her CC. I think they'll do wonderful lifts.

Bobby and Dianne will be irritating but might be quite good if he can tame his long limbs.

Ellie and Vito will knock it out of the park.

Layton and Nikita – yawn.

Nigel: I can imagine him forgetting the footwork with nerves, it being on a huge dancefloor with a big audience. If he doesn't then they could be very classy.

I don’t think that Angela R will be overmarked on Saturday. There is no need. She’s reached Blackpool, job done.

She’ll probably be in the DO again and will leave. It will be interesting to see who her opponent is. It may even be Layton, if the public isn’t keen. This is where it’s good that we don’t see the public vote percentages, because it allows an element of intrigue!

I can’t see Krishnan fans giving their vote to Layton. They would prefer a novice dancer I think.

I want Layton to stay till the end as I'm loving the effect on Nikita and the complexity and speed of the routines. Much prefer it without the camp show off stuff though. I don't want him to win.

Layton will almost certainly stay to the end. He will also, almost certainly again, be in the dance-off at least once but he's good enough to be the one saved.

From the music they're using it looks like they're giving Annabel and Angela R two different American smooths. AR's must be a foxtrot and Annabel's waltz/Viennese waltz. I hope she does a good job of it. The lifts will be better for her and Jojo though, so there's that. Anglela R will do the whole leg thing and then be relatively pedestrian with a few showy bits.

If Nigel can get past his nerves that will be a joyous quick step, also looking forward to Ellie's Charleston and have my fingers crossed for Angela S's AT.

Not convinced that Bobby will pull off a good jive but am happy to be proved wrong. His limbs are all too long and he doesn't have the best control over them.

I do like this stage of the contest, far fewer dancers left, a shorter show and not what feels like an eternity of slogging through dance after dance, forgetting half of them because they're so meh. When the credits were rolling on Saturday I had completely forgotten that Jody Cundy had been in this year's show.

Still sad at the loss of Amanda though, she was finalist material. And Gio is always gorgeous to watch.

Just watched Kai & AJ's quick step and he just isn't dancing with that kind of joy this season. I wish we'd got to see their show dance.

Heh, yes, he dances with AR like she might break if he dropped her.

I can't imagine Back to Black as an Argentine tango.. will it work for it? I hope so.

I LOVE Back to Black, and think it could work for an AT, and indeed for a ballroom tango.

Aww I loved AJ. That was one of first years I got really into watching and she was my absolute faviourite. Was gutted when she had to pull out of the final as assumed they’ve have couple of amazing dances. Kai does seem different this year which is understandable given ARs age (not knocking her she’s extremely fit for her age but still more vulnerable bone wise fall wise everything).

Layton is being very magnanimous about Craig and his 9 on ITT. Nikita seems less so

@covetingthepreciousthings I've a feeling they did something at the launch the following year but don't think it was their show dance. Or I could be completely wrong, pretty sure someone with better knowledge will correct me if need be.

They missed out "dick wet" entirely - sang "it's not enough with his safe, old same bet" instead - see video thread, Phil and Katya's tango. They don't have enough time beyond first verse and main chorus so puff and blow don't come into it!

I've noticed a few lyric changes this season - noticeably Vampire and also Bloody Mary has lyric changes. Seems they can't sing Jesus?

Just watching back ITT with Krishnan and Lauren and goodness me, they are lovely together and he is still a joy. You can see it has really meant something to him, much more than just a pay cheque/career boost.

I was just having a look at some old Strictly videos as I didn't start watching until 2016.

The female pros, and some contestants wore so little for some of the dances, the risk of wardrobe malfunction and exposure must have been high!

It happened mid dance to Lilya - her top snapped.

Yes I remember Lillia dancing her Samba with Darren Gough whilst holding one strap up.

There was also the infamous “microphone incident” during Mark Ramprakash & Karen’s Salsa.

Plus numerous occasions of heels getting caught in hems of dresses.

Speaking of skimpy outfits, remember Ola Jordan’s debut catsuit when dancing with Spoony 😱? It was practically painted on!

Oh hang on, maybe the catsuit was on another occasion. Ola’s debut was a barely-there “dress” (more like a bikini with a bit of fringing!). To be fair if I had her figure I’d probably parade around all day in a bikini too!
