I sort of get the unsatisfactory sex for validation thing. As a very unhappy and messed up child-woman in my twenties, when men "fancied" me, it made me feel that I was worth something. Thankfully I got through that horrible phase of my life. At least with me there was some chance of satisfaction although truth be told there often wasn't much of it. If Ella was a nicer person I'd feel for her, but she isn't so the fact that she's looking for lust love in all the wrong places makes me feel sweet FA. Arthur has said that Laura's friends are getting a bit of an unfair rap thanks to the show's edit. He said that they were all laughing and joking for 90mins prior to the scenes that were aired. We may be being really unfair on them.
Whoever posted that YouTube video on one of the early threads this year about the editing making you feel whatever the producers want you to feel nailed it.
