Anyone know how they decide who is going to do which skills test? It seemed really unfair in one of the previous rounds when the guy from a fish/seafood restaurant was given the fish dish, and last night when Joaquin - who has never been a pastry chef or worked in the pastry section - was given the dessert.
I appreciate that last night there was a point to prove - i.e. that if you want to win Masterchef, you have to be able to do desserts as well as savoury dishes, but it did seem to put him at a disadvantage (even if he acquitted himself well.)
Is it purely at random? I can't believe that the producers don't consider the contestants' backgrounds and particular skills/specialities.
