Off work poorly so used the time wisely to binge watch ghosts final series

SPOILERS

I binged it and cried. I loved the line dancing and Pat not being caught out by April Fools.

Fanny's "Home" poem reminded me of Cordelia and Eli talking about "home" in The English (which also made me cry)

Will the baby be born by Christmas? I wonder if the baby will see the ghosts?

I loved it but agree kitty’s death was a bit of a damp squib. Loved Robyn. He’s my favourite.

Oh I really liked Kitty's death and the fact no one, least of all her sister, betrayed her.

SequinsandStiIettos · 07/10/2023 13:50

Wonder why they binned the "sucked off" joke and went for "Whoomph!" instead.
Looking forward to Xmas, when of course afterwards I shall be bereft.
Atomic Kitty joke made me laugh Grin
I, too, had forgotten she didn't know about Julian pushing her, so that part lost its impact. I assume the heartbroken friend was irony, as Thomas has been lovelorn and annoying without seeing it. Plus meant pros/cons list was drawn out.
I'd have been sure if the company wanted all the property that much, then they could have made a deal whereby Mike stayed on as head chef and Alison reception, with staff living quarters or some such.
Why did they decide to do it themselves, I've forgotten. Why did a hotel chain not buy them up in the first place - the plague pit delayed things - but what put paid to a purchase? That they'd have to move?
Carpe Diem made me cry. The Captain's name was James in answer to a pp.
Robin being fluent in French was inspired.
It is a brilliant show and has had a wonderful run.

Krawnprackers · 07/10/2023 13:53

@HeartandSeoul I thought the Obi thing was to show Thomas being completely intolerant and showing no self awareness of how he also mopes around mooning after Alison 🤣 could be wrong!

I like your thinking! That could well explain it.

LunaNorth · 07/10/2023 20:07

Binged. I loved it, but it felt incomplete.

The Christmas episode will hopefully tie everythIng up in a big festive bow.

UsernamenotavailableBob · 07/10/2023 20:19

Binged it. Loved it. We need more TV like this it's so pure and clever and just brilliant. Larry is the luckiest one of the bunch, Robin and Humphrey are brilliant characters.

TrackerBar · 07/10/2023 22:16

Also, I’ve been watching Lead Balloon on Prime, so it was lovely to see Anna Crilly in episode one.

WildFlowerBees · 08/10/2023 12:48

I'm sorry? What? This is not complete and now we wait for 2 more months to tie up all the loose ends? How rude, I was hoping the Christmas special would be as well as.

I have loved every single series I really hope they do something else soon because I think we need more lighthearted programmes.

ChocolateCakeOverspill · 08/10/2023 13:44

I think I was too harsh earlier, frustrated about the lack of closure and didn’t appreciate all the beautiful moments. Julian’s speech at the end was 🥰🥰 I’m going to rewatch it and savour it.

TrackerBar · 08/10/2023 18:11

Soooo, what are people's thoughts about the Christmas day episode? I thought maybe the ghosts might all get sucked off one by one until it's just Alison, Mike and the baby.

UsernamenotavailableBob · 08/10/2023 19:00

I think Alison Mike and the Baby will die and become ghosts. Something is going to happen and Mike will meet them all it makes sense they die

LadyHag · 08/10/2023 19:05

Or Mike dies, becomes a ghost, meets them all and Alison is a widow but with a ghost husband.

Binged it, loved it.

I think the storyline with Obe was meant to show Thomas how annoying he is when he is all forlorne and heartbroken? It was a bit of a dull side story.

cakeorwine · 08/10/2023 19:32

Robin was great. Just the way he spoke French.

And it was sad thinking about all the changes he's seen. People he met and who moved on.

There is an element of The Good Place in the afterlife and what it means. Being prepared to move on and all that.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 08/10/2023 20:50

Was going to wait but then somehow watched all 6. Woops.

So glad the last episode has a Christmas one to follow! Loved Julians speech though.

The captains death was sad! Nice they were reunited before but still...

Robin being alone before Humphery and his wife moved in..the shots of him alone got me!

Did feel some parts lost its charm a little and then got in others lovely as always.

LadyHag · 08/10/2023 21:14

Yes, Robin on his own so long seemed so sad, ad how he just sat and listened and absorbed and understood so much, he's such s wise character, having to tell Sir Humphrey that he never listened.

I really wanted the captain to have some thing else...
Even a visit from some war buffs or the other doldiers family looking into the family tree, gear them talk of their great great uncle who was s brave soldier and loved his captain, get some solid affirmation that he was loved, I just have a soft spot for him.

Pats victory dance out of the kitchen after telling Alison he knew all the aril fool tricks was brilliant, especially when listing all tje tricks and one eye twitched.

The Captain is called James.
Brilliant series. I loved it,apart from the ever annoying Mike.
Robin very poignant at times.

AmyandPhilipfan · 08/10/2023 21:25

I don't think they'll kill off Alison, Mike and the baby or that would make all their work in the house etc pointless. A really good ending would be for them to discover a way to free all stuck ghosts, and for the ones in the house to decide if they want to stay or move on. But I don't think they could do that storyline justice in just one episode. Making Mike see the ghosts just once would be a nice ending. But not sure how they could do that without giving him a near death experience. Maybe something like eccentric neighbour brings them some foraged mushrooms round and they have a hallucinogenic effect on Alison but on Mike they make him actually see the things that are there ie the ghosts.

LadyHag · 08/10/2023 21:27

Did you notice in the baby scenes when he was dreaming Mike 'saw' all the ghosts as they are as behind the door there are pictures of them all to refer to, except Robin as obviously there wouldn't be any pictures of him so.it was like a male model.caveman 😄

And also glad kitty's death wasn't anything to do with her sister

Mike isn't annoying. He's an absolute sweetie.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 08/10/2023 23:05

Just watched Pineapple Day. May have had something in my eye. Am gutted this is the last series.

@LadyHag I noticed that about Robin in Mike’s dream.

I can never decide who my favourite ghost is. Think I love them all equally. I miss Mary :))

RedGreenBlueSky · 08/10/2023 23:22

Christmas special predictions - baby born (on Christmas day?) & Julian's investments making enough money for them to stay in house and do it up properly

Floralnomad · 09/10/2023 00:11

I think Mary has left a very big hole .
