Joe is an odd little chap isn’t he (I’ll assume I can still use the present tense). I think he started secondary school last year, so he would be in y8 now. Yet he still seems so young, that tablet looked like a child one, they drive him everywhere, are unable to leave him alone in the house it seems. I snorted at the ketchup thing my gigantic bottle of Heinz definitely says ketchup on it, but I expect Zaniel only have organic, sugar free, hand-pressed by angels tomato sauce.

Yes Joe seems a very very young 11 year old, the dinosaurs and the tablet thing struck me as well. He’s definitely a kid only allowed water, no ketchup and twenty five vegetables a day.

how come he can have all these sleep overs, yet when they were struggling for childcare they had to use the random mum they didn’t know?

Joe was born in 2012- so was 11 this year, so presumably starting secondary now. (Though we've had no angst about it- and we got plenty regarding Izzy's school).

He does seem very young though (and my lot did the whole dinosaur thing around year 2, I don't remember secondary doing anything so interesting lin year 7 .

I'm quite sure his school wasn't always a zillion miles away along winding country roads, either. I think that was for dramatic effect.

And the ketchup thing was plainly daft . Brown sauce is a thing. But nearly every one says ketchup!

I thought he started at the same school as Issy last September, but if it was a private school he might not have been moving at year 7 I suppose.

Equally it is confusing, because I thought the same.

But I long ago stopped expecting Doctors to make sense if it gets in the way of a storyline .

Anyone else get really irritated when TV dramas show a driver talking to a passenger in the front seat, and constantly turning to look at them? This happens even if the car doesn't end up crashing. It's so unrealistic as it's perfectly possible to talk and watch the road properly at the same time! And a bit stupid and irresponsible to tell your kid you'll look at their drawing during the journey. Sooooo obvious what was going to happen. 🙄
