You could just see what was going to happen all the way through. The mention of picking Joe up for school, the hip flask, the wine with lunch, Joe insisting on sitting in the front and wittering on about dinosaurs. I know it's callous, but if Joe does depart along with Daniel, it gives the Zara character a bit more depth and scope for the future.

Disappointed in Emma breaking confidentiality so easily, particularly after she'd specifically reassured Claudia.

they ran into a protester on the green. He was protesting for water saving.
the protester had a heart attack.
daniel tried to save him. It turned out the protester was Daniels golf partners estranged brother.
they went to lunch whilst the protester went to hospital.

the protester died.

daniel went to pick joe up from school. Joe was going on about dinosaurs and had drawn a picture on his tablet.
joe sat in the front instead of in the back on his booster seat. And Daniel drove into a tree because he was looking at Joe and ended up on the wrong side of the road with a car coming towards him.
