Well done Jannik! Happy for him. I’ve always found it awkward that they make the runner up speak Jane, but Daniil always makes it entertaining.

Not the best start for De Minaur, but Casper has won his opening match in Shanghai. Holger is just starting against Nakashima.

Ben Shelton playing later, as well as Sascha , Hibi and Seb Korda. - quite a good day to do nothing

I haven't been able to watch Holger but I wonder if he's still suffering, because he's lost the first set 6-0.

So, Holger lost, and so did Felux who will definitely be happy to see the back of this year. Hubi safely through- currently some rain in the Etcheverry /Zhang match and 1 set each.

Haven’t managed to watch any tennis for the last few days - I think both Holger and Felix need to take some time off to fully recover from their injuries - easier said than done in tennis though

Very wet in Shanghai, was all set to watch ADF -is far beyond wiping the lines with towels. [grins]

Blimey- just switched on to see Seb Korda has beaten Daniil.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of commentary in Shanghai- or I keep missing it. Odd for one of the bigger tournaments.

Looks like whatever was ailing Jannik last week is still lingering- he doesn't look very well, but then he always looks pale.
And he's about to go a set down.
So the finalists from Beijing could both lose today at this rate.

Jannik doing better this set, I also noticed that ADF lost his match (that had been held over from yesterday,with all the rain ).

I’ve just been reading the ladybird thread <shudder> I remember going out about a year ago when we had unseasonably hot weather and there were a few swarms - it was very stressful! I’ve seen s few today and will be giving the washing a good shake when I bring it in (evil little feckers!)

We’ve just got in and DS2’s GF has put the heating on - it’s like a sauna in the house - she doesn’t seem to be aware that we’re in the middle of an out of season heatwave

Or that I’m a grumpy menopausal woman!
