My Mum, Your Dad

Oops got the title wrong in my first thread - have requested deletion

Starting tomorrow on itv1

“My Mum, Your Dad is a British dating reality show that is set to begin airing on ITV1 on 11 September 2023. It will be presented by Davina McCall and follows middle-aged single parents heading to a romance retreat for a second chance at love which is overseen by their children.”

From a Google for the show it appears there is already 1 season of the US called My Mom, Your Dad. So presumably the same format.

Anyone planning to watch?

Is this the show that was billed in the media as an upcoming middle aged Love Island earlier this year?

New Martin full of himself and looks like Monique’s head turned by his bluff and bluster and wealth.

Caroline needs to back off a bit with Roger he knows she likes him. Janey has a more lively vibe.

Caroline is almost too accommodating like an agony aunt.

New lady from last night wow wonder if her and Clayton might pair up.

AzureBlue99 · 15/09/2023 09:15

Think I am done with this programme. It is full of over done people, some on the reality tv circuit, and it is dull. I don't want to see a Benny Hill naughty schoolgirl party. Weird thing to do.

rockingbird · 15/09/2023 09:25

Did anyone else notice the new Martin's son was very meek and anxious.. I can't help thinking he's like that because his father is such a bold character. How anyone could find him attractive baffles me.

ThePoshUns · 15/09/2023 09:55

Yes I'm not keen on the new Martin and was disappointing to see how quickly Monique was taken in by him.
It could explain why she is single if she is so easily attracted to a bit of money and smooth patter.
She's making a mistake.

It was so lovely seeing Monique and OG Martin, it all seemed so real with a real spark. But she flipped her feelings very quickly, which makes it seem she's in love with the idea of love rather than the person.

Janey and George are well suited. Caroline needs to step back a bit. George might be a slow burner with her but I'm not convinced that there's much there. She clearly fancies him, and that will put him off if he feels she's not even exploring any other options.

George? Have I missed someone...

I was thinking the same! In what world is he attractive??

Original Martin however, yes!

Christ, of course I mean Roger 🫣

Courgeon · 15/09/2023 10:32

I was looking forward to this show. I have loads of mates who are similar age and single but they're not like the women on the show who are a bit indentikit in terms of style and glossiness. My friends are more natural looking and haven't had loads of crap injected into their faces. I don't know anyone like this crew, well actually I do but don't socialise with them. The saminess of them all makes it boring, long glossy blow dries etc etc. Caroline is the only natural one.

I feel so sorry for his son, it's like his role in life is to keep stoking his father's ego, his comment about being known as Martin's son speaks volumes.

I thought exactly the same as you.

I dont actually think Monique deserves to be with Martin H. I actually think he's too nice for her. Not sure if she's that nice. She gave me attention seeker vibes when she ran off to cry. Davina was trying to console her.🙄

honeyrider · 14/09/2023 22:59

Yeah he's very arrogant and full of himself, he's the least attractive male on the show too. I don't like him.

I feel sorry for his son, known as Martin's son and not a person in his own right.

How arrogant he must be to not even care he overshadows his son?

wednesdayatone · 15/09/2023 12:17

I think Roger is too old for Janey

He's 58 and she's 47

bizzey · 15/09/2023 12:23

Did anyone else here someone, not sure if it was one of the. " kids " or someone in the house pronounce Rogers name as...Rowger.?

I heard it a few times but didn't really clock who as all the ladies look similar!

Getting funny vibes from Monique ..

bizzey · 15/09/2023 12:24

Ohh and I obvs don't mean ..haa ha funny !

11 years is nothing at this point, they’re at the same life stage. I’d like to see them get together. I put money on Tolullah being all over pale, stale, loaded Martin like a rash any time soon.

martinisforeveryone · 15/09/2023 14:08

It's making me uncomfortable looking at that school disco rubbish and Roger's making me uncomfortable too, I feel like he's been thrown in and is floundering. Yes he's adult and capable of making his own decisions, but I don't feel like this was a wise one at all. Maybe things will change as the days go on though. I'd much rather they'd have done more group mingling, then speed dating and then started to think about who suits with who.

The new Martin loves himself so much, at least on first viewings, that I don't know why he needs anyone else. He gives off the vibe of wanting a vacuous worshiper of half his age or less. I felt really sorry for Luke. The other Martin made me laugh when he said 'yeah he's tall, but he's not as tall as me'

From The Radio Times

Ahead of his My Mum, Your Dad debut, Martin said: "I tend to go for powerful, intelligent, driven women, which usually means we end up competing with each other.
"I have difficulty committing, I still want to be that Peter Pan. Commitment-phobe? Maybe so. I don’t want to close any doors."
Age: 53
Location: Derby, lives in Ibiza
Job: Property developer
Martin M is a property developer who currently lives in Ibiza.
Describing himself, he said: "Tall - I’m 6ft 7 - handsome, intelligent, single. I’m business-minded, I try and lead a good life, but also with responsibility. I take my fatherly duties very seriously."
In terms of what excites him about joining My Mum, Your Dad, he said: "I’ve always struggled meeting people who are on my wavelength. So, I thought, 'If they’re going to line up several single ladies, I’m in.' What’s not to like?"
As for what makes him nervous, he added: "Being offline. I run a business, I’m always on the phone, so that will be unusual."
Martin is hoping to find someone "intelligent, confident, driven, funny, laidback".
He said: "I don’t think me meeting the female version of me would go very well. Someone who can be supportive. Not too overly competitive. Just someone nice and normal and laidback."

Twonewcats · 15/09/2023 14:26

I hated the way he said they'd all to come to his home in Ibiza. There was no reason to say that apart from to boast. Grim.

BIossomtoes · 15/09/2023 15:22

Aren’t “driven” and “laidback” diametrically opposite? He wants a unicorn.

Love that bit about Tolullah and Martin spot on! 😉The original Martin is too good for her. Feel sorry for the new Martin's son....the guy is a plank and a show off...

wednesdayatone · 15/09/2023 15:59

Im 45 and no way id want someone 11 years older. He is 2 years off 60 .

wednesdayatone · 15/09/2023 16:02

Hurrah for new Martin! Hopefully the show will get more interesting with his ego in the mix!

It's otherwise fairly dull and uneventful

Callywals · 15/09/2023 16:14

To people making comments about Tollulah, eg saying original Martin is too good for her etc Have I missed something? The poor woman only arrived late on in last nights episode, so how can you judge her so quickly? What makes you think she's not good enough for the original Martin and what is it about him that makes you think he's "too good" for Tollulah? Just interested.

I was about to say the same

@ilovebrie8 Just noticed you were the one who said the original Martin is "too good" for Tollulah. How have you come to that conclusion, she only arrived late on in last nights episode and she didn't appear to be showing any special interest in him?

Yes Talloulah has just walked through the door and given no indication of interest in anyone yet.
