Ghosts Series 5 - TV pace, no spoilers

What do you want find out in the final series of Ghosts? Sad (sad that is it the last series)

I want to know why Pat always references France/French - I think he used to get the CDs from the Daily Mail on how to teach yourself french and had day-trips to France

If Alison and Mike's baby can see ghosts

Will Alison find out it was Julian who pushed her out of the window?

More Barclay and Bunny - no question, just like them both and want to see them in series 5

When will the next series start - I assume mid-November with final episode at Christmas 😃😭

I loved it and I'm so sad it's over.

dollybird · 27/12/2023 09:36

I loved it, and thought it was a perfect ending. Yes, lots of unanswered questions, but they're not the first to do that (the last Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, anyone?) I'm thinking they didn't show the ghosts in the future, as we can just imagine that they are all happy and none of them got 'sucked off'. I guess with so many people coming and going in the house/hotel there may be new ghosts too?

Ashleysaidwhat · 27/12/2023 13:34

I just watched it and cried my eyes out at the end. Must be due on soon lol

SecondUsername4me · 27/12/2023 14:25

I really enjoyed it - mainly as it did exactly what it was supposed to do, and close off the show.

It'd be nice to get the odd Comic Relief sketch of them haunting the hotel with various celeb guests, but as a series it's done.

I like that becoming parents just changed their mindset too on how the house (and the ghosts) works for them.

LIZS · 27/12/2023 14:56

@SecondUsername4me great idea although may take more planning than time allows.

I noticed that the dilapidated state of the house was become more obvious. Mould on the walls of the stairs and the ceiling half hanging off in their bedroom. If it had been an ordinary 3 bed semi in that state we would all declare it wasn’t safe to bring up a baby there.

SecondUsername4me · 27/12/2023 15:27

Did anyone spot when it was a hotel at the end they'd built onto the far right (facing the house) to bring it out to match the left side (Alisons bedroom)?

SecondUsername4me · 28/12/2023 10:17

Just seen a suggestion on Tiktok that suggests Alison returns to the hotel, elderly, and died in her sleep there - forever reunited with her friends.

Only if Mike dies there too. Maybe a food poisoning accident or a small fire (not enough to burn the hotel down - I think the ghosts would grow to be dependent on the constant coming and going of guests and staff to keep them entertained).

@Karwomannghia and don’t forget that Simon Farnaby (Julian) also Co-wrote Paddington 2 and the new Wonka film.

I got the book for Christmas and it's great. I have done a skim read and annoyed my entire family by snorting aloud. It's quietly filthy in places but a couple of bits give a bit of insight as well and it's typically sweet.

I may be in a minority but I enjoyed the Xmas special. I got a bit upset when I thought they would be exorcised and liked the end, thought it was a good compromise as I couldn't think of a way which wouldn't otherwise have been too sad.

@cuthbertthecat what is the book

I keep hearing about it

Has anyone bought the book? I saw it was out too late to give any hints for a Christmas present, so may have to buy it myself after Christmas. Reviews are very good.

Seems I wasn't too late, as DH got it for me after we spotted it in Waterstones while we were away before Christmas ✨

Spotted him in the Christopher Robin film the other day, too!

And of course he pops up a few times in Detectorists, and I love that he was the one to present the show on the search for the remains of King Richard III - rumour has it Channel 4 didn't want Tony Robinson to front it as they thought it was a wild goose chase and could damage the Time Team brand!

Much as we all love Lady Button, the grainy footage of her going out of the bedroom is quite unnerving.

I wish they’d collaborate on a special special Most Haunted episode with Yvette Fielding screaming over the wrong things.

They showed a ghost ?

Edited

Have you seen the film of the search for Richard III remains? I can't remember what it's called but it has the actress who plays Mrs Brown in the Paddington films as the lead.

CaveMum · 02/01/2024 15:54

@dollybird I have seen it yes, I thought it was quite good. Philippa Langley has been working on the search for Henry I in Reading for a good few years, she thinks he might be in a car park too!
