I would love to replicate one of these routes at a slower pace. Felt more doable than some of the other series. Sad it's over.

greengreengrass25 · 25/10/2023 22:06

Amazing programme

I bet it will do wonders for tourism for the places they visit

Especially Tronso

Bumface56 · 25/10/2023 22:08

Tromsø looked amazing.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 25/10/2023 22:08

I’m up for it but I do walk with a crutch.

SleepingStandingUp · 25/10/2023 22:14

Does anyone know what happened to Billy and Bonnie?

Sad for the result, wanted them to win followed by Emma and her son

Orangeanlemons551 · 25/10/2023 22:16

Billy and Bonnie were my favourites - what lovely siblings. Enjoyed the whole series - good telly

MadeOfAllWork · 25/10/2023 22:18

Only just found this thread. I love RATW. Harry annoyed me bullying his mum all the way. So sad for Bonnie and Billy. Loved Mel and Helene. I’m glad Alex (?) and Noel won.

Yes the last series in Canada was dull but I’m guessing that it was filmed during Covid travel restrictions so it made it easier to go across one country.

As for the jobs, I’m guessing the production team line up with various stuff in advance and then the production team give them the money. In a few of them they don’t seem to be actually any help at all.

As for this lot being celebrities, well I’d never heard of any of them so it didn’t make any difference.

Yes

I don't think they do a full day anywhere

NCTDN · 25/10/2023 22:27

So gutted for b&b.
Not keen on Alex, but pleased for his dad.

KylieKangaroo · 25/10/2023 23:14

I am glad they won! Shame about Billy and Bonnie

Kingdomoffife · 25/10/2023 23:30

Such a shame about Billy and Bonnie - they seemed such lovely young people.

Loved Mel and her mum too - they seemed to really enjoy themselves and the journey. I went off Harry by the end, as he just seemed focused on winning rather appreciating the journey.

Stressybetty · 26/10/2023 02:47

Gutted for Billy and Bonny, they were the nicest pairing, got on well with each other the whole trip, really wanted them to win. Really didn't want Alex to win but glad he did for his dad. Felt 90% of Harry and Emma's footage was him telling his mum to hurry up! Not fussed on Mel and her mum, even on the final stage there didn't seem to be much urgency there between them.

MyCircumference · 26/10/2023 06:21

i was excited to see the Flixx bus, i travelled from Germany and Holland on a Flixx bus, good advert for them

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 26/10/2023 08:01

Wanted Harry and mum to win, i think had they caught a taxi to the cable car and not a bus, they would have. Nt keen on Alex at all, seemed a real stick in the mud whinger.

MyCircumference · 26/10/2023 08:07

harry seemed a bit of a cold fish to his mum and she was filmed struggling to catch up, gaining our sympathy.

DanceMumTaxi · 26/10/2023 08:09

Real shame about Billy and Bonnie, they were my favourites - they just seemed to get on with stuff without complaining. I’d have preferred Harry and Emma to win last night though. Alex just comes across as a total princess.

NamechangeForthisquestion1 · 26/10/2023 09:04

@HoHoHoliday I would love to do it and thought about applying last time! However no one to go with. I'm not sure I'd have time 😅 although it's a month isn't it so should be ok if I planned in advance! No kids here so no responsibilities.

5foot5 · 26/10/2023 10:31

Excellent series.

Another B&B fan here, so sorry they had to disappear before the end.

I would have liked to see Harry and Emma win but, TBH, by this stage of the series I liked them all so much that I didn't really mind who got the top spot.

Funny how in some ways the parents seemed to be the real "stars" of this show rather than the celebs.

As to Harry constantly hurrying his Mum, I imagine the editing played this up a lot.

Sallyingon · 26/10/2023 11:11

This is the one TV show all our family watch together. Loved this series, the locations were wonderful and I really enjoy it best when there are multiple ways to get to places. We all gasped at that graphic of them in three different countries with the same distance to cover! We wanted Billy and Bonny, the loveliest kids ever, to win. But I liked them all. I enjoy the relationships.and I was really pleased for Noel and Alex. Though I actually was hoping they'd turn the page and Mel and Helene would have pipped them - just for dramatic purposes. But all good and very inspiring to have a go ourselves!

martinisforeveryone · 26/10/2023 11:45

I’d love a re-match, younger v older. Shorter time and distance with a reunion aspect.

martinisforeveryone · 25/10/2023 21:59

I thought Mel said they had 25 euros and the taxi took 20. She then said they had 1 euro left out of the entire budget, meaning they paid 2 euros each for the cable car?

They must have let them up there because they were last anyway.

I remember in the first Race Across the World when the final point was on the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel one of the the teams didn't have any money left to pay for the lift to the top. I can't remember exactly what happened but it showed them running around asking to borrow money (I think it was relatively cheap) or they talked someone into letting them go up for free (and pay later). Not sure either way but they did get to the top but they were in the running to win at one point (or that's how it was presented). They certainly weren't last.

Live everyone else not keen on Princess Alex but loved his Dad. His Dad was even sobbing when he read that Bonnie & Billy had gone. Rather unfairly, possibly, I thought Alex was probably thinking that they'd got a better chance of winning now! 😂😂😂

placemats · 26/10/2023 13:02

Having been to Tromso, I was willing Mel and Helene to get the taxi to the cable cars. My daughter and I walked across the bridge to get to the funicular, as it was then, and after an amazing day spent on top of the mountain on my 50th birthday, we went into the Cathedral to listen to a choir practice. We got the bus back.

Loved this show. Everyone was brilliant and all were winners.

ScribblingPixie · 26/10/2023 13:06

@CountTo10, Didn't one of the pairs who beat them come down and pay for them to go to the top?

CountTo10 · 26/10/2023 13:12

Very possibly. I know they got to the top I was shouting at the tv when Mel and her Mum were going to use the last of their money to get to the church that it may be a mistake because of what happened in Singapore. Did they say how much the cable car was? I know it showed Alex asking where to buy tickets.

Also am am I correct in thing Alex was offering 2800 krone (£205!!) to drive 3 miles? I was thinking the same thing there. He’s giving away all his money when he’ll possibly need some to get to the actual check point.
