Looking for a well-made, cosy murder that I might have missed.

I LOVE Midsomer, loved Magpie Murders, thoroughly enjoy Death in Paradise (even though it's nonsense). Used to enjoy Doc Martin, back in the day. LOVED Broadchurch.
Found Vera a bit bleak, though it was very well done. Loved the Alan Davies magician windmill one but the kids find it dated. Didn't enjoy Shakespeare & Hathaway.
Quite enjoyed that one on the Scottish island with the policeman and his daughter.

Enjoyed Lewis. Enjoyed Endeavor.

What have I missed? Maybe a stand-alone, or a mini-series?

Assume I have been down a well for the past 3 years and have not had access to British TV or media. What fun, well-made cosy murders or mysteries might I enjoy?

Have you watched M(a?)cDonald & Dodds? Quite silly but I enjoyed it. ITV.

Why Didn't They Ask Evans was a good one-off.

The Pact S1 was pretty good, not sure it was cosy though.

The Loch.

LittleMonks11 · 02/09/2023 09:11

Agatha Raisin?

Freshair1 · 02/09/2023 09:13

Yes, Why didn't they ask Evans looks great. Def on the list.
Will investigate McDonald & Dodds, and Annika.
Not sure about Agatha Raisin. I think the title put me off. Worth a go?
Lol @Freshair1 quite right.

Foyle's war
Cormoran Strike - cuckoo calling

Willmafrockfit · 02/09/2023 09:19

Jonathan Creek

ASimpleLobsterHat · 02/09/2023 09:19

This is just my alley. I have enjoyed most of those and I've also enjoyed:
Brokenwood mysteries
Miss Fisher's murder mysteries (I think that's the title)
The Mallorca Files
Madame Blanc Mysteries
The death in paradise spin off
Whitstable Pearl
Signora Volpe

I got a subscription to Acorn a while back which seems to be quite good for this kind of cosy crime show.

If you have Disney+, Only Murders in the Building is cosy and funny.

Annika is easy watching

I was going to suggest this, light and entertaining - a bit silly, but that is ok.

watcherintherye · 02/09/2023 09:21

Vienna Blood
Astrid: Murder in Paris

BorrowedThyme · 02/09/2023 09:22

Willmafrockfit · 02/09/2023 09:19

Foyle's war
Cormoran Strike - cuckoo calling

Strike series are OK, but the books are a thousand times better, as is Harry Potter, same author

RampantIvy · 02/09/2023 09:22

We like the same programmes @ASimpleLobsterHat
I would add Father Brown to that list

Have a look on the Drama channel @NailyDale. There are loads on there.

I love how it always ends with a freeze frame twinkly laugh. Happy memories of 'sick days' pulled to stay at home!
