Someone else will have to do the linky thing to the last thread 😁

I don't view Rock as anything other than a tomboy, and victim of social contagion and irresponsible adults, particularly her teachers who effected this "transition" behind the backs of her parents. And Charlotte for not listening to her and forcing her to be a 5th Avenue princess, instead of a girl who likes trousers and skateboarding. Che and the adults who indulge in the identity drivel are another matter entirely.

NeedToThinkOfOne · 23/08/2023 15:04

Charlotte and Harry’s children should be bratty, it would be unrealistic to come from such a wealthy background and not be behaving as entitled, privileged and to type. The next generation of wealthy New Yorkers, they’d make a great spin off for hate watching😂

I think Brady is more likely to be down to earth and respectful of others with his parent blend. He seems chilled out and cast well, albeit with a question mark over how old he is actually meant to be.

Yes, exactly!

'I don't view Rock as anything other than a tomboy, and victim of social contagion and irresponsible adults, particularly her teachers who effected this "transition" behind the backs of her parents'

I agree. Anthony had it right in series one when he told Charlotte to just back off and let the kid find her own way through it all

thebellagio · 23/08/2023 16:34

I actually thought that the whole Rock becoming a model was going to lead to them rejecting the non-binary element and realising that just being YOU is enough. Like others, I thought it was more of a rejection of Charlottes “park avenue princess”
vibe than an actual gender transition.

thebellagio · 23/08/2023 16:34

So what was the whole point of lily’s awful song that we had to endure? Where she whined about being rich and pretty? That has gone no where

Illegallyblonder · 23/08/2023 16:41

Thanks for the new thread, good title!

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 23/08/2023 16:47

Found you! Or rather was signposted by @aqiarious ... thanks again...

LOVED the suggestion in the last thread that Aidan and Samantha were goign to run off to the airport together in a twisted revenge plot against Carrie - that would be such poetic justice, though I would never wish Aidan on Samantha.

Aidan's crying was just ludicrous, he'd broken his leg ffs not died. Yes, get back there but don't have a full-on nervous breakdown. And Carrie's solipsistic "and just like that ..." was hysterically in character. They are so not meant to be.

My favourite bits of the last episode were Charlotte throwing her phone into the margarita, as someone who gets texts approx 16m times a day from my teenagers - "Mum, what shall I have for lunch?" it was SO relatable and also a relief to see her FINALLY find her mojo, which arguably had been missing for the whole of SATC (RIP) and realise husbands and children tie you down and are PITAs.

Also loved the very frank Anthony convo, proper filth. Agree that if Che had just been living their life like Anthony everyone would have loved them, it was the throat-ramming that was so offputting. Nya, nice but unnecessary, bin her. The miscarriage was a HUGE copout and the clunky line about I feel so lucky was actually insulting, it would have been so much better if she'd had an abortion and carried on.

Roll on tomorrow and byeeee Aidan (said in the kind of stupid voice he would put on)

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/08/2023 16:59

Sex and the kitty😂😂😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/08/2023 17:02

Not sure if anyone has linked this yet

But the one scene with Samantha will be a phone cameo and not with the other 3 as didn't want to

So prob a call in the cab

GellerYeller · 23/08/2023 17:26

Off topic, apologies, but I found out yesterday that the scene with Gloria Steinem at Enid’s event in the Devil Wears Prada apartment, also has a background actress with lavender coloured hair.
If anyone is into the Beatles, she’s May Pang. She was a PA to John and Yoko and then asked to be his lover- by Yoko!- when they separated for 18 months. He then returned to Yoko. I wonder how she came to be in it and if we’ve missed anyone else?!

NeedToThinkOfOne · 23/08/2023 17:58

Interesting info @GellerYeller sounds like a Samantha kind of arrangement 😂,
Yes wonder if there’s any others in that ep?

GellerYeller · 23/08/2023 18:11

@NeedToThinkOfOne Thankyou! I’m assuming for authenticity they went for people of a certain vintage that are New York royalty and that Enid could tap up. Like Bitsy! There are some people tagged in May Pang’s insta post about it. She was later married to Tony Visconti, Bowie’s producer.

Place marking (and still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the cast of AJLT are the same age as the Golden Girls)

OMG - that’s where they’ve got most of Chatlotte’s wardrobe! 1980s middle aged Southern Belle, Blanche Devereaux!

msmonstera · 23/08/2023 20:11

Just watched it- I can see Aidan moving himself and his troubled teenage son into Carrie's apartment first, and then watching that stepmother car crash unfold with them breaking up over it.
Don't see the point of the miscarriage if she didn't want a pregnancy anyway, unless there's more to follow.
Che should be uninvited to the last supper after that performance, not cool.
Lovely tribute to Stanford. All the peace stuff. They must have been sad filming that.

memoriesofamiga · 23/08/2023 20:30

Tbf I would say even 35 years later Blanche's outfits are miles better than the awful stuff Charlotte has been wearing this series 😂

I see a lot of my teenage self in Rock's character, the difference being I had no inclination to change my name or pronouns. It was perfectly acceptable to be a tomboyish girl in the early 2000s without it being anything more than that.

tribpot · 23/08/2023 21:36

Copout does seem to be the name of the game on AJLT so I fear we will see Carrie and Aidan break up tomorrow because he can't leave his boys, rather than the real reason - which they have inexplicably rekindled a dysfunctional relationship from decades ago in the name of Carrie having 'two great loves' and them both being on the rebound from their marriages (in different ways). So then we'll have to put up with Carrie mooning around after Aidan rather than giving herself a good shake and wondering WTF she was thinking, rushing into this with a guy she could never commit to because she was in love with Big.

Ideally Aidan and Che would run off together.

one more sleep!

10hrs to go

Tho I won't watch it at 8am

Maybe 9am once mini blondes is at summer camp so I can enjoy in peace with a cuppa

Figgygal · 23/08/2023 22:35

I think theyre definitely splitting up tomorrow with maybe then mutually deciding aiden needs to be near his boys (but she deserves a good dumping .......so do us loyal viewers).
I think in a way they needed to bring Aiden back for this arc it now really does clear the way for a fabulous new man to enter the scene and for the viewers to not be thinking "Where's Aiden?" "Bring back Aiden"

Whiskeypowers · 23/08/2023 23:16

I am hiding this thread until I’ve watched it tomorrow night with a couple of large gin and tonics.
enjoy everyone!

PMSL at Aiden and Che running off together 😁

I would love to see Smith back but how could it possibly happen?

I think we could do with some more cameos. How about the Eurotrash woman, the Pussy King, possibly the short guy? 😁😁

@GellerYeller great May Pang spot! I read her book 'The Lost Weekend'. Was so interesting.

I'm always a week behind but enjoyed this episode. I did also wince at Aidan's wailing and sensed some ick from Carrie - the way he went 'wahhhhh!!!' and she awkwardly went 'oh honey..'. Very reminiscent of a begrudging back-pat to a husband with next-level man flu.

Charlotte laying into the kids was funny - she could have just let them know she was out before lobbing her phone into a cocktail pitcher.

I know there is talk about Carrie's bad cooking but didn't they make a thing in the pilot episode with Big about her learning to cook in lockdown?

I don't know if Aidan will leave just yet. Maybe they will move Wyatt in permanently! There is bound to be a blow up about Aidan always being second place to big John.
